Google Maps Widget not working at all

10 years ago · Last reply by gregor171 10 years ago

Hi.
I’ve installed your lates siteorigin-panels.2.4.10.zip and so-widgets-bundle.1.6.1.zip on a Fresh WP site v4.5.3

I’m having issues with the Google Maps widget.
Although I own an API key, no map is shown. If I add a background color, I can see the colored box, but not the map.
My API Key is active and working (just tried the script before).
Is that perhaps a bug in WP 4.5.3?
I’ll wait for your comments.
Thanks!

    Hi Mano,

The SiteOrigin Maps widget is 100% compatible with 4.5.3.

Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on? If you need to keep this URL private from other users, just select “Private Reply” on the bottom right of the comment box.

    Hi Mano,

Just checked your link mate. It doesn’t has an API added. :(

To resolve this issue you’re going to have to add a Google Maps API key to your SiteOrigin Google Maps widget. In the next version, we’re looking to enforce the API key requirement. :( To create an API key please navigate to this page and click the blue “Get a Key” button and follow the prompts. Please place this API key that you’ve generated in the API key field in the SiteOrigin Google Maps widget.

By the way, you’re SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle is several versions (based on your original post) out of date. Consider updating it.

    Hi
This is why I’m trying to point the problem of Api key in my question. It has API KEY, but it does not show.

To be even more precise in get_template_variables function returns correct key in $template_vars[“map_data”][“apiKey”] and also in $instance[“api_key_section”] (within google-map.php)key is inside. But no Api key in script url… I didn’t have time to go deeper in.

    Hi Mano,

Just saw the issue – you need to update the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle. There was a fix released in 1.6.1 that resolved this issue. Please update the plugin – sorry about this!
