Hiya,
I have the Google Maps widget (from widget bundle) on this page:
http://caritaylor.com/aboutus/hours/central-library/
and the interactive isn’t working–it only shows up when I have it set to ‘static.’

Thanks,
C

    Hi wiredpoet,

In what way isn’t it working in interactive mode? Is it just not displaying at all? Would it be possible for you to create a page that includes a non-working map so we can try figure out what’s happening?

  2. wiredpoet

Hi Greg–it’s on that page now–yes, it’s not displaying at all.

Thanks for the info. I’ve also asked Braam, the widget’s developer to check this out if he can. Hopefully he’ll have some insight into what might be causing that.

Apologies for the hassle. Do you think you could perhaps help us rule out a plugin conflict? That would involve re-testing the page with just Page Builder and the Widgets Bundle activated.

  5. wiredpoet

    yep, it’s working now

  6. Andrew Misplon Staff

Thanks. So the effort now is that to find the conflict you’d need to try re-activating one plugin at a time, after each activation, check the map.

  7. wiredpoet

found the culprit–ironically, it’s the google language translator plugin. unfortunately I really need this plugin!

  8. wiredpoet

I’ll just use the static map–have to have that language plugin. I just read on a forum somewhere that “The common cause of Google applications not running is when they are loaded together on the same page, multiple Google javascript connections are all loaded together and conflict with each other.”

Thanks for reporting this. Braam is away this weekend. He’s the developer of this and most of our Widgets Bundle. I’m going to ask if he can jump in next week and perhaps try harden our our Maps widget against this conflict.

That sounds right. Perhaps we can check to see if a JS file is already present to ensure the same file isn’t loaded twice. Logging a case now.

Thanks :) Let me know if you get an update and I”ll try it again later ;)

Will do. I’ve mentioned this thread in the bug case. I’ll ask Braam to update here as soon as he’s able to take a look.

    Hi wiredpoet

Apologies for the trouble you’ve had with this. I’ve found the issue and it should be fixed in the next release of the Widgets Bundle.

    Hi Braam,
I was wanting to launch my site within the next month–do you think an update will be ready by then? Just wondering–I can always change the maps to static if need be.
    Thanks,
    C

Hi C, it’ll be best if Braam answers here, but yes, I’d think so.

    Hi C

We’re trying to get a release out sooner than that, but definitely within the next month.

    Cheers
