I broke something. Having a little panic attack here. It started out that I wanted to try to make a buffer around an image. I found a thread in which someone suggested inserting code in the settings css, so I found that and inserted the code. When it didn’t work I tried to take it out and apparently left something in that shouldn’t be there or deleted something that needs to be there. I’m getting this message:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘{‘ in /home/sagcty/public_html/wordpress/wp-content/themes/vantage/inc/settings.php on line 25
The worst part is, it won’t let me get back to the spot where the problem is. No matter what I click on, I get the error message and can’t continue. please help me!

Hi Lauren
Sorry to hear about this.
Occasionally we discuss child themes on the forum which involve some PHP a programming language but on the whole the most advanced items we send out are Custom CSS snippets. Those get inserted under Appearance > Custom CSS. Was there perhaps a mix up in this regard? As a rule theme files shouldn’t ever get edited unless contained a child theme.
Not to worry though, you can resolve this!
In your order confirmation email was a link to download the Vantage Premium ZIP file. Download that to your desktop and then follow these steps to delete the theme and re-install it:
https://siteorigin.com/basics/updating-theme-from-zip/
That should get everything back to normal without losing any settings or data.
Yes! Thank you so much! I’m up and running again. – This was just a dumb
mistake on my part. I thought I had clicked on “custom CSS”, but had actually clicked on
“Editor”. Yikes! I know just enough to break stuff, I’m afraid. Thanks again for your help!
Really glad to hear you got this resolved. The Editor is a powerful part of WordPress for sure.
All the best with your website.
