Editor / Saving / Preview issues

I’ve never been very knowledgeable about WordPress! I recently had to do quite a bit of troubleshooting deactivating and reactivating plugins to solve several problems. I took about a year off from from anything WordPress other than updating plugins. My pages and posts previously created with SiteOrigin Page Builder look one way when I’m in the editor (which is the way I’m used to). I can revert from Page Builder to Editor and switch between Visual and Text. I can save without problems. When I hit Preview Changes, a new tab opens with the changes. Perfect.

HOWEVER,
Anything not created with Page Builder (previously created and new) has a different look. When I hit save it stalls and I have to close the page/post. I can get to the changes by clicking on ‘Restore Autosaved Version’. Any updates to snippets or keywords, meta tags, etc are not captured. When I hit preview, a new tab opens and nothing comes up. It gets stuck ‘Generating Preview’
I pasted two snapshots in the URL listed but the full-page image capture only did a full capture of one of them. Sorry

I don’t know what’s going on and I’m really frustrated. Thanks

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Fernipascual,

What you’re seeing is the new WordPress Editor which is introduced in WordPress 5.0. If you would like to continue using the previous editor, please install the Classic Editor plugin and it’ll disable the Block Editor (ie. Gutenberg).

Thoughts on the issues related to Saving and Preview?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Fernipascual,

That’s likely as a result of a plugin you’re using not being compatible with the Block Editor. Installing Classic Editor will completely avoid the Block Editor so it will avoid this issue.

If you would like to continue using the Block Editor (which is completely fine), I would run a plugin conflict test to identify the conflicting plugin. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

I deactivated most of the plugins except any SiteOrigin, Formidable and Black Studio TinyMCE Widget. It seems like Black Studio TinyMCE Widget was the culprit because once I deactivated it Saving and Preview worked.

    What should i do next?

    Thanks

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Fernipascual,

Thanks. We’ve confirmed that this issue is caused by Black Studio TinyMCE Widget. We’ve logged this issue with their developers and this issue should hopefully be fixed in the next update.

Unfortunately, there’s no direct way to avoid this issue at this time outside of either not using the Block Editor or deactivating Black Studio TinyMCE Widget.

    Hi, I Work Here

Hi, Black Studio are attending. In the meantime, you could use the plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-rollback/ to rollback Black Studio TinyMCE to the previous version which doesn’t have this problem.

    Thanks! Will do that.
