Do templates update in the pages where they’re used?

Hi
I created some Site Origin templates, used one in a couple of pages then noticed that there was a typo in the template. So I went into the template, fixed the typo, saved it. Reloaded the pages it was used in and noticed that the typo wasn’t corrected.

I deleted cache in WordPress and browser – even loaded the page in a private/incognito window, etc. Still the page using the template had the original typo.

Am I missing something or do the templates simply not update existing pages where they were used?

Thanks

    Hi YarnyBookkeeper

    Thanks for reaching out.

Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on?

    Hi Andrew
    Just a little background here.
First this is a staging site where I’m moving our 20 year old website from Joomla into WordPress.

So, I originally created a Site Origin headline template to use in several pages, the template is here – https://wptestsss.sunburstsoftwaresolutions.com/wptestsss/?elementor_library=certified-payroll-solution-includes-wage-manager-100-00-value-is-priced-at-465-00-for-a-company-license-with-the-program-to-be-installed-on-as-many-computers-as-required-watch-the-video-below

From there I added the headline template into a page template which can be seen here – https://wptestsss.sunburstsoftwaresolutions.com/wptestsss/cps-page-template/ which I then clone to add the content.

After making a slight change in the headline template – replacing the word “watch” with “see” I noticed that the change in wording didn’t update.

I guess I assumed that because I had updated the headline template that the changes would then update in any/all the pages that it was used in. Am I incorrect?

I can see that the permalink for the headline template didn’t change – could that be what’s causing this?

    Thanks for your prompt response!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Nancy

    Thanks for the update.

SiteOrigin Premium offers a Mirror Widgets Addon that provides mirrored content functionality. By default, Page Builder doesn’t offer mirrored content functionality.

Within Page Builder, if you click LayoutsClone: Page the page will clone but it won’t mirror the original page as content is updated on the original page.

If you can perhaps take a few screenshots of the admin cloning and content updating process, I can advise further.

Maybe I’m a little brain dead here – are you telling me that SiteOrigin Premium will do what I want it to?

Meaning if I go make a change in the header template – say change the price or the wording – that the Mirror Widgets Addon will apply those changes to ALL the pages that the header template was used in?

I certainly don’t have a problem upgrading to Premium if it will do that. The site that I’m moving from Joomla to WordPress is HUGE and I need all the shortcuts and automatic updates that I can get! LOL

Thanks again for your prompt response

    Oh, sorry one other question……
Will the Premium version still work with the free version of Elementor?

    Hi Nancy

The Mirror Widgets Addon adds a new menu item. Mirror Widgets are managed from that location. For more, please, see Page: Mirror Widgets.

Meaning if I go make a change in the header template – say change the price or the wording – that the Mirror Widgets Addon will apply those changes to ALL the pages that the header template was used in?

Hopefully, the documentation for the Mirror Widgets Addon helps. The Mirror Widgets Addon works from a central location, content is added to that central location and managed from that point.

SiteOrigin Widgets can be used within Elementor. I can’t comment further than that without seeing how the site is set up. You mentioned the Header template earlier, is that a template in Elementor? I’m not 100% following where our products are being deployed within Elementor. If you could perhaps take screenshots of the pages while being edited, upload to any public source like Dropbox etc. and share the link, we’d be happy to take a look.
