Customize Header Menu with North?

Absolutely LOVING the north theme. But trying to customize the menu at the top a bit. I am using a bright background color and the gray links get lost. I can change the color to white but they lose hover effects. When I try to add hover effects through CSS, I lose their “clickthru” ability. Any suggestions on other things to try?

    Hi Gretchen,

    To clarify, are you making these changes with CSS or with the customizer (WP Admin > Appearance > Customize)

    Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on? If you need to keep this URL private from other users, just select “Private Reply” on the bottom right of the comment box.
