Corp theme blog page issues

I have a problem when i try to change the layout of my blog page in the Corp theme. it ALWAYS turns into the homepage of the Corp theme, and its very confusing. No other page does this, but EVERY time i try to make any changes in my blog page the entire page somehow turns into my homepage, which i set up to look like the demo page. is anyone else having this issue, am i missing something on why this is happening? id like a fullwidth hero image at the top of the page but it doesnt work, same when i try to add a featured image. how do i fix this?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Toria

Trying going to SettingsReading and make sure you have a static home page as well as a posts page assigned. For a standard site, you’d go to Pages, make sure you’ve created a page called Blog and a page called Home. Then, at SettingsReading, you’d assign the static home page to your page called Home and you’d assign your posts page to your page called Blog.

For the other problems you’ve mentioned, please, send us a link to the page concerned and we’ll take a look.

That is how it is set up but I am still having that issue…and it is only with the blog page. I think if I just built a replica of the demo homepage and used that instead of the template that might fix the issue…although I’m still unsure of the exact issue affecting the blog page. It’s quite frustrating.

    Hi, I Work Here

Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? You can create the account with the following email address:

    Private Snippet

Just navigate to UsersAdd New in your WordPress admin. Enter siteorigin for the username and Private Snippet for the email address. Make sure you’ve selected Administrator for the role and enabled the Send Password field so we receive the details.

Once we’re finished taking a look, you can delete this account. We’ll let you know when to do that.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Thanks for the long wait.

I’ve changed your Blog page layout via Theme Settings in the Customizer: https://www.startcommercialcleaning.com/blog/. There is no change to the home page. Can you perhaps let me know what change you were making to the blog page that was impacting the home page?

    Thanks again :)

There was no impact to the home page…the change was to the blog page. When I changed the page from anything but “standard” the blog page always ended up changing INTO the home page.

Nothing happened to the home page.

I’m sorry but I just looked and no changes were made. The blog page is still in default mode. I tried again to change it to “full width” but once again it reverted to looking like the home page…now it seems stuck there…I put it back to default and updated the change but it’s still looking like the home page.

    Hi, I Work Here

Please, let us know the final result you’re looking to achieve on your blog page, we’ll help set that up. Unfortunately, I can’t replicate the issue you’ve mentioned above. Which blog layout would you like to use? Thanks :)

  12. 6 years, 2 months ago Toria Posey

I can change the blog layout with no issue…its the PAGE layout that is the problem.

There are 3 page layout options…STANDARD…NO SIDEBAR…FULL LAYOUT NO SIDE BAR.

On the BLOG page and ONLY the BLOG page…whenever I change the PAGE LAYOUT to something other than STANDARD…it ends up looking like the home page.

    That’s the issue I’m having…not blog layout.

My homepage is using the page layout FULLWIDTH NO SIDEBAR with no issue.

My about page also had the same page layout of FULLWIDTH NO SIDE BAR with no issue as well(I changed it back to standard to blend in better with the blog page since I can not get that page to set as FULLWIDTH NO SIDEBAR)

If you go to the BLOG page and go to PAGE LAYOUT and change it to either NO SIDEBAR…or FULLWIDTH NO SIDEBAR…you will see what I mean when I say that the BLOG page disappears and you see the same page as the homepage.

    Hi, I Work Here

For adjusting archive layouts like the blog page, try using Page Template Settings in the Customizer:
    Page: Page Template Settings

Page Settings, unfortunately, won’t work with archive pages.

That said, Full Width, No Sidebar is intended for Page Builders. It has no padding so not sure it’s really ideal for your blog page.

I still don’t see the bug though. Here is me setting the page layout of the blog page.

And the result which is no result.

    Hi, I Work Here

Perhaps the confusion is the phrase “looking like the home page”. I assumed that means your blog page is turning into the home page completely, content and all.

The take away is that Page Settings won’t work for the blog page, for WooCommerce home shop page etc. They won’t work for any archive pages. For that, head to the Customizer, browse to the page in question, click the Page Template Settings section and adjust there.

    Page: Page Template Settings

    Hope that helps :)

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi

If you want to add a Hero above your posts you’ll need to follow these steps:

    1. WordPress doesn’t render any content on the posts page except for posts so you have to:
    a. Go to Settings > Reading, deselect your posts page, make sure no posts page is selected.
    b. Go to Pages > Blog, use Page Builder, add a row for your Hero and add another row and insert the Post Loop widget, that’s how your posts will be displayed.
