Contact form gets destroyed on every single site change

Dear awesome staff at SiteOrigins!

I am using the very well known Bridge-Theme with “WPBakery Page Builder” and your “”SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle”. On one page I am using your contact form. And it is sufficient to change the headline (for example) and the contact form gets destroyed. Example: https://imgur.com/a/oHsSW6u

Thank you very much in advance

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Klaustrophobie,

Really sorry for any frustrations this issue may have caused you. We’ve had a few other people report this issue before but we haven’t been able to replicate this issue?

Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? Also, ideally, would it be okay if we can make a backup of your website so we can run some code level tests against your website without it specifically affecting it?

I have send you the password. You also can make a backup, if you need to. Thank you very much in advance.

    Hi Klaustrophobie,

Unfortunately, we haven’t received an email from your website yet – you’ll be notified when we do. Can you please try recreating the account? Sorry about this!

Oh wow, my E-Mail has been transfered into a post under my real name: Can you please delete this?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Klaustrophobiem

Thanks. I’ve edited your previous post to hide the name – the post itself is hidden.

Can you please clarify what your website is again? Sorry about this!

    Hey Alex!

    1. Please, be so kind and delete my last post completely.
    2. I have send you a new username and a new password using my WordPress backend. If you do not receive any mail NOW, it didn’t work (again).
    3. I don’t want to post the URL of my homepage here.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Klaustrophobie,

Thanks. Unfortunately, the provided login details aren’t actually working for me. The username is correct but the password is coming up as invalid. I went to reset the password but received an error message that explains why we haven’t been able to receive an email from your website. The error message is as follows:

Die E-Mail konnte nicht gesendet werden.
Mögliche Ursache: Ihr Host könnte die Funktion mail() deaktiviert haben.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Klaustrophobie,

Yes, I’m able to log in. Is it okay if I create a copy of your contact page for testing?

  15. 6 years, 9 months ago Klaustrophobie

    Absolutely!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Klaustrophobie,

I’ve made a couple of test edits and none of my changes have resulted in the contact form breaking.
Can you please outline the specfic steps you’re taking that (unintentionally) break the contact form? Sorry about this!

  17. 6 years, 9 months ago Klaustrophobie

Just change the headline “Kontakt” by using the “WPBakery Page Builder”. As you can see, I changed it and: It happened again.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Klaustrophobie,

Thanks. I’ve run a few tests and I was eventually able to replicate this issue. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins (leave WPBakery Page Builder active) and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to test this against a version of the page that hasn’t already broken (as it’s unlikely there’s a direct way to recover the broken version) and you’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

    I. I disabled all plug-ins except “Page Builder”. Than I changed the headline: Problem occurred again.

II. Than I activated “Duplicate Posts” to clone a version of the site, that hasn’t already broken. Than I changed the headline: Problem occurred again.

III. I cleared my browser-cache before both steps.

IV. I didn’t clear any WordPress-related caches and I didn’t switch the theme. I think, that both steps are a bit risky and I think, that it is easier for me, to just use another plugin-in such aus “Contact Form”.

Please tell me what our next steps will be, so that I can work on the site again.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Klaustrophobie,

I would recommend doing a backup and then do 4. Worse comes to worse and something goes wrong, you can restore the backup.

I’m going to log this with the development team to see if they can identify why this is happening.

  21. 6 years, 9 months ago Klaustrophobie

Sorry, but I am out here – I will simply use “Contact Form”. Thanks for you’re help anyway.
