Changing Unwind link color

Hi everybody. I’m quite new here. I have a quandry with link colors in the unwind theme. (Yes I have scanned the forum for help, tried and failed on tips I have found)

The link color is (as read in the style.css on lines 588 ff.) #24c48a. I would like it to be changed to #078bf9, hence I hacked the original style.css replacing the old color for my preferred color. For this theme (unwind) i was stunned to find that nothing at all happened (All other themes I have hacked this way instantly responded positively) I realized there is another css file: style.min.css which seems to have what style.css has, only abbreviated and relieved of all white spaces. I hacked that one too, still nothing happened. Case of CSS caching (is that even possible)??

As I have read in the forum my way of hacking the css file is not the proper way to do things. That would not be so hard to conclude on ones own, but that method was an emergency solution. To enter a custom css line in the theme editor you have to have complete knowledge of all the symbols etc. in the css which I don’t have.

I now have a hacked css file, and the links are violet, turning to greenish when hovered over, so something obviously happened, but not in the way I thought. Can I change color of links in a manner that also would be compliant with updates of the theme (as I would guess it will be if some additional css is added in the theme editor)

I also appreciate that it can be some tweaking until we hit the sweet spot.

A good sample URL for our site is https://www.friluftsfamiljen.se/2019/03/30/om-hur-man-hoppar-over-stockar/
in which one can see a living example of a link inside the text (Youtube-video) in the third paragraph.

I am thankful for all help! All best greetings!

    Hi again!

    I’m sorry I haven’t commented until now, the post was locked for comments pending the approval and there was no way editing my post.

    I forgot to say that I was quite puzzled to find that the color still remains since there was no instance of the color remaining in the theme – so I thought. I found some other files containing the color too. All files containing the colorstring are now

    style.css
    style.min.css
    woocommerce.css
    woocommerce.min.css

    However I seem to have found the way to tweak the color. In the “extra css” section i entered two lines:

    a {color: #578dd7;}
    a:hover {color: #00c5ff;}

    (I also changed my mind about preferred colors)

    Apparently the issue is solved! (Sometimes it suffices to cry for help!)

    All best greetings! Lasse.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Indian-Jonas

    Thanks for reaching out.

    You should be able to set the link color by adjusting Accent Color at CustomizeTheme SettingsBranding.

    Page: Branding

    Hope that helps :)

    Hi Andrew.

    Spot on! This was exactly what I was looking for! How should I have known that I had to look under branding??! :) I always seem to miss all these functions because they are hidden in a menu tree somewhere… I feel old…

    I still learned some good things poking around there… Extra CSS can definitely solve some issues I might run into. I just never thought about it. So far all help I got satisfies all my needs!

    Thank you a lot for the help! /Lasse

    Hi, I Work Here

    No worries at all. We’ve tried to put everything into the documentation section for Unwind (https://siteorigin.com/unwind-documentation/), so that’s one option for a different point of view.

    Glad to hear you’re making progress. Keep in mind that when a theme updates it overwrites its own folder so any changes you’ve made will be lost. If you can add your edits to CustomizeAdditional CSS, they’ll be safe. If you’d like to try our Visual CSS editor, it’s called SiteOrigin CSS and can be found at Plugins > Add New, search for SiteOrigin CSS top right. A bit more on it here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/so-css/.

    All the best with your site :)
