Changing permalink structure causes unreachable webpages

Hi,

In my wordpress website with vantage theme, I changed the permalink structure to /%postname%/

However if I try to visit one of my pages now, I get a not found error.

If I change the settings I get a message that it is succesfully edited, so it isn’t my htaccess file.

This does happen with WordPress. I believe that standard fix is to go to that page and update it. Then try changing the permalinks back to what they were and back again making sure to save the setting each time.

Is this site running live on the internet or are you using wamp/xampp to run the site? if you are using wamp,

in wamp you have to manually click/unclick an option to change the .htaccess(and allow permalinks with that).
To do this , click the wamp icon on your (windows) task bar, choose apache > apache modules and check ‘rewrite module’

Here is more information about using permalinks http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks

Hi, I’m indeed using WAMP. However if I enable the rewrite module, i can’t acces the website anymore through localhost/websiteName
Is theresomething else I need to do for this?

Thanks for the help here @ThemeBuddies, you’re more dialled into this topic than I am at the moment.

@Stijn perhaps give this a quick read: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3182163/making-pretty-permalinks-work-in-wamp
