Can’t change the theme code in the editor

6 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 6 years ago

I can’t save the changes I’ve made in the theme code. How can I do so my changes get saved?

It just says: “Something went wrong and it is possible that your changes were not saved. Try again. You may need to correct the file manually and upload it manually via FTP.”

And also: “Unable to connect to backend. HTTP error 406”

    Hi Lukas

    Thanks for reaching out.

I’m, unfortunately, not quite sure why that error would be showing. The issue will most likely be related to hosting or something of that nature. Here is a tutorial you might read https://geekflare.com/wordpress-editor-unable-to-save/.

Are you editing the core theme files? If so, please, don’t edit the core theme files as any changes you make will be overwritten during the theme update process. Custom CSS changes can be made via AppearanceAdditional CSS or AppearanceCustom CSS if you’re using SiteOrigin CSS.

If you’d like to edit theme template files, please, find a starter child theme for Corp here. To migrate Customizer settings from the parent to the child, please, see our guide here.

    Hopefully, the above helps.
