I’ve created the main menu. When I try to add the sub menu items, I can add it to the submenu placeholder, but when I go to save the menu, it places the menu item as another main menu item next to the parent menu item instead of below it. I’ve used links, but still it defaults to a main menu item. I didn’t see any other threads related to this particular issue. Please assist.

Hi Mmac2015
So to confirm, under Appearance > Menus, you created a custom menu, saved it and assigned it to the theme’s primary menu location. Perhaps just check that last part. The menu location assignments are under the main menu item management area.
With the above done, did you then add your page/s and drag them one level deeper to make them sub items of the parent? When you hit save were they still present in the sub-menu position?
Thanks for responding. To answer your question, your recap is correct, (that’s the process I went through) and after saving, all the menu items are listed in the parent position. I’ve repeated the process several times, but the results are always the same, no submenu positions.
After reading your documentation, I realized for submenu items, I had to create a Link menu item. After doing that, it worked. Thanks.
Mmm, not sure what’s going on there. You should be able to add any items as sub menu items. So pages, links, categories, they all should be good to go as sub menus. Links work fine though. If you’d like me to take a look, please send a set of temporary login details to:
