Can you reposition widgets in the footer area?

10 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 10 years ago

Hi, I have the premium version of Vantage with social media widgets in the footer. I wanted to add some text so used the visual editor to do so, but the text wasn’t centred above the site info like I wanted it.

I tried changing the order of the widgets around but that made things worse.

I have currently got around it by adding our address to the site info details, but what I really want is to be able to position widgets as I need to – is there a way to do this? Can I make the social icons vertical for instance and then add text that I can centre or justify?

    Hi Tim

    First of all I apologize for the delayed response.

    This can been done using custom css. I have just checked your site and it seems you have modified your layout. Would you mind restoring it as it was so that I can have a look and propose adjustments to meet your needs?

    Looking forward to hear from you.

    Cheers

    Hi Addo,

    I just put the visual editor back in so you can see what I mean.

    Many thanks

    Tim

    Hi Tim

    Perhaps try our Layout Builder widget in the footer widget area. The Layout Builder allows you to build a Page Builder style layout inside of a widget area, you’ll then add your widgets from within the Layout Builder. Give that a try and see how it goes.

    Hi Andrew,

    OK, I tried that and yes, it is better thank you. Took a while to work out how to arrange the row, I didn’t realise you can have a little slider you can use to adjust the columns :)

    Only thing now is I am uncertain how to set the height of the footer – it is a little too high for my liking. Is there a way to do this?

    The footer fills the available space on the screen so there isn’t a way, within the current design, of changing it’s height. You can hover set a minimum height for the content container. Try the following under Appearance > Custom CSS:

    /* Main Container */
    #main {
    	min-height: 500px;
    }

    Edit as required.
