Administrator user not able to edit widget

I have recently updated the plugin to 1.58.5

after the update only super admins are able to edit the site origin widget bundle features and site origin widget accordion.

Users who have administrator role are not able to edit the widget and it blank out all the content in widget after the publish of the page.

This problem is only on site origin widget bundle features and site origin widget accordion however administrator user can edit site origin editor and so on.

This is our free support forum. Replies can take several days. If you need fast email support, please purchase a SiteOrigin Premium license.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for the update. I’m unfortunately unsure what might be causing a bad gateway error. If the issue persists, please let us know.

    Hi Andrew,

The layout slider is still being funky. It’s not displaying the entire banner image. It’s cutting it off. I’ve deleted the widget, added it back and tried various images and they are all being weird.

    Hey Andrew ,

Everything works great with the new update.

    Hi Andrew,

The same issue we are facing with post loop widget.
So the Administrator are not allowed to save the changes only super admins can do it.
When user with Administrator save the changes it just blank out all the content of post loop widget.

    Hi, I Work Here

Hi, we’re able to save the Post Loop Widget as an Editor without issue. Please try enabling debugging and check your debug.log file to see if anything useful is logged when the issue occurs:

So If you save the post and go back to editor isn’t your saved content wipe out ?

“PHP message: PHP Warning: Illegal string offset ‘fitvids’ in /wp-content/plugins/so-widgets-bundle/widgets/video/video.php on line 314PHP message: PHP Warning: Cannot assign an empty string to a string offset in /wp-content/plugins/so-widgets-bundle/widgets/video/video.php on line 314”

This is the only error I have in my error.log file

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for your feedback. It looks like arguments in the Dates and Additional fields are being cleared when saved by lower permission users. I’ve logged the issue.

    Thanks Andrew

    Yes correct

    Hi, I Work Here

Hi, please find a beta release to try linked here. Let us know how you get on. Thanks!

  16. 6 months, 22 days ago Prachi Patel

    Hi Andrew,

I have updated the plugin to 1.58.7

Now it is able to save the arguments in the Dates and Additional fields when saved by lower permission users but the saved post loop is not being visible on the page.

I did checked the log file nothing in their.

    Hi, I Work Here

Hi Prachi, it’s possible the Additional Arguments field is being sanitized in a way that’s removing certain characters. We’re investigating. Does your Post Loop output if you remove the contents of the Arguments field?

  18. 6 months, 22 days ago Prachi Patel

    Hi Andrew,

Thank you for your quick response.

No Post Loop does not output If I remove the contents of the Arguments field.

I am just adding taxonomies and dates still it is not shown on the page.

Now the super admins are also not able to make the changes on Post Loop after the new update.

    Hi, I Work Here

Can you clarify what you mean by not able to make changes? What happens?

  20. 6 months, 22 days ago Prachi Patel

    Hi Andrew,

When Super admins try to save the post loop with taxanomies and dates , Fields are saved but no output on the page .

When I do inspect , below is the result for post loop.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks. The public support forum doesn’t support media uploads. I’m unable to recreate the issue. Please try troubleshooting the issue, for example, if you’re using a custom template, try another template option within the Post Loop widget or with a default theme like Twenty Nineteen.

    Hey Andrew,

With the new update ,Users with low permission update anything in accordion it is messing up the css.

All the styles will wipe out and just the plain text is left.

This new update is messing up the css with the post loop too.

    Can you check this ?

Should I downgrade the plugin ?

  23. 6 months, 21 days ago Andrew Misplon
    Hi, I Work Here

Hi, you can downgrade, but we can’t replicate the reported issue at this time. To try and replicate the issue we’d need more information. What CSS is being lost? How is the CSS added? Where is it added? How is it output?

  24. 6 months, 21 days ago Prachi Patel

I mean the whole formatting is lost in accordion.

    For example :-

This is added in the accordion.
Text which is referring to a link now any slight changes like updating the link Test 1 to Test-1, it will break the formatting with just plain text with no tag.

    Test 1

    Test 2

After the update the result is

    Test 1 Test 2

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks. Please send a link to a page concerned.

  26. 6 months, 21 days ago Prachi Patel

If you try to make any change on this page with lower permission user it breaks the formatting
Will you be able to delete my link to the page and password comment ?
    As it is public so

    Hi, I Work Here

Hi. I’ll delete the link but please keep in mind that it’s not our normal support tier practice. Please consider a premium license if you’d prefer private email based support. The expectation with free support is that it’s public.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks. I’ve duplicated the frame content into an Accordion. I can edit the content, remove links, and add list items, as an Editor without issue. What role is causing the issue? Does that role have access to the TinyMCE (Visual and Text tabs)?

  30. 6 months, 21 days ago Prachi Patel

Editor role is causing the issue and we have piled up the complains about it .

We have to role back the plugin to 1.58.3.

  31. 6 months, 21 days ago Andrew Misplon
    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for the update. Please, let us know…does that role have access to the TinyMCE (Visual and Text tabs)?

Unfortunately, I’m unable to replicate the issue at the moment. Here is a test screencast:

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Prachi,

I’ve investigated this issue and come up with a fix that’s resolved this issue on my end. I’ve prepared a patched version for you to try and you can download it by clicking here. I recommend giving this a try on a staging/test site.

Before proceeding, please make a backup.

Navigate to My SitesNetwork AdminPlugins and scroll down to SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle. Deactivate the plugin and then delete it. Scroll to the top of the page and click Add New, Upload Plugin. Upload so-widgets-bundle.1.58.8-beta.zip and when prompted active.

    Kind regards,
    Alex

  33. 6 months, 21 days ago Prachi Patel

    Thanks Alex

Let me try it on test site and will let you know

  34. 6 months, 21 days ago Andrew Misplon
    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks, please let us know how the test goes.

  35. 6 months, 12 days ago Prachi Patel

    Hi Alex/Andrew,

With the patched version , Lower privilege user role can make the changes in the accordion but they are not able to restore from post revision .

So any changes made in the existing accordion is not saved in the post revision so users are not able to restore the previous revision but if they duplicate the accordion or create the new accordion than the post revision is saved.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Prachi

We’ve tested revisions using Editor and Contributor roles in the Block and Classic Editor and haven’t been able to replicate any limitations. We’re able to restore and create new revisions without issue.

    https://siteorigin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/block-02.png

    https://siteorigin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/classic-02.png

  37. 6 months, 12 days ago Prachi Patel

With the classic editor ,we are able to restore the prevision but when the page is build with site origin widget it is not saving the new revision.

Issue is only when edit is done in the widget like accordion, features

With the site editor widget this issue is not seen meaning users are able to save and restore the revisions

  38. 6 months, 12 days ago Prachi Patel

First edit is saved but when you try to edit the siteorigin page builder page and the same widget multiple times it is not saving the revision

  39. 6 months, 12 days ago Andrew Misplon
    Hi, I Work Here

    > but when the page is build with site origin widget it is not saving the new revision.

Are you referring to the Block Editor? If so, which block in the Block Editor, the SiteOrigin Layout Block or the SiteOrigin Widget Block?

  40. 6 months, 11 days ago Prachi Patel

So we are using page builder by SiteOrigin to build the page and SiteOrigin widget bundle.

Now when the page is build with the page builder it won’t save post revision and when I don’t use the page builder and just use the visual editor it will save the post revision.

I hope I answered your question

  41. 6 months, 11 days ago Andrew Misplon
    Hi, I Work Here

If you’re using the classic Page Builder tab, we can’t replicate the issue. Please see the test screenshots below in an Editor role with Accordion edits:
