Hi,
I’ve recently updated to WordPress 4.5 and my home page slider has disappeared.
Checking the code I can see that an inline style of ‘display:none;’ has been added to the that has a the .sow-slider-base class added to it.
Please see image here: http://www.onix-uk.com/onix-wordpress-dev/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/grab1.jpg
Can you help me to understand why that is and how I can fix it please?
Thanks.
Kind regards.
Dave.
Hi Dave,
Very sorry for the late reply. We work through a prioritized forum queue, and unfortunately, it’s taken us some time to get to your thread.

Because it’s been a while since you posted this, would you mind letting us know if you still need help? If so, we’ll jump right in.
Hi Alex,
No I’ve not been able to resolve this.
In order to try to figure it our I rolled back to 4.4.2 here: http://www.onix-uk.com/onix-wordpress-dev/ and created a copy of the site on 4.5 here: http://www.onix-uk.com/onix-wordpress-dev2/
If you visit the home page on 4.4.2 you will see a slider at the top of the page however it is missing on 4.5. When looking at the code I can see that an inline class display:none is visible on 4.5 however it is missing on 4.4.2.
You can have a look at the image I sent earlier here: http://www.onix-uk.com/onix-wordpress-dev/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/grab1.jpg to see where I believe the problem in the code is happening. It’s a screen shot taken from the 4.5 version of the site.
Can you help?
Thanks.
Kind regards.
Dave.
Hi Dave,
Ah, okay. That explains why I presumed it was fixed as I was looking at the 4.4.2 site.
Okay so I suspect the issue here is caused due to a JavaScript error. It’s basically brought the entire house down and prevented the slider from working as expected. Could you please try a plugin conflict test? I know it sounds weird as you haven’t really changed anything but due to the nature in version differences it’s possible a conflict as been introduced and I just want to rule out other plugins.
Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.
If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.
Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.
If the above doesn’t help, you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.
Hi Alex,
Seemed to do the trick…many thanks.
Kind regards.
Dave.
