WooCommerce products on Products widget

Hi all,
I’m a newbie and was wondering if anyone can please help.

I’ve built a homepage on my WordPress site using Site Origin Page Builder and all the widgets are working and looking great. However, the “Products” widget from WooCommerce is the only one that doesn’t appear on the homepage, even though it appears on the editing page…

I thought maybe it was because I didn’t have my products yet, so I went and created 2 fake products on the WooCommerce plugin – they appear perfectly fine on the “Shop” page, but the widget doesn’t seem to have “linked” with Site Origin. I don’t think the issue is with WooCommerce because it’s doing what’s supposed to do (products were added and are appearing on the Shop page), so I’m assuming there’s something not allowing Site Origin to “pull” the products into the actual Products plugin, if that makes sense? But it’s just a guess, really…

I don’t know what else to do and couldn’t find any information about this on the forum. Can anyone please help?

Thank you!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Cynthia

    Thanks for reaching out.

You can perhaps try testing the Products widget outside of Page Builder. Go to AppearanceWidgets and insert the Products widget into the theme sidebar area. Next, view a page that does not use Page Builder and has a sidebar. Alternatively, you could create a test page. Does the Products widget output normally in the sidebar?

Thanks Andrew, I’ll give this a try this evening and will let you know if it worked.
    Fingers crossed! :)

    Hi, I Work Here

Super, let us know how it goes. This won’t solve the issue but will let us know if the issue is specific to Page Builder or if something else is happening.

    Hi Andrew,

Sorry for the delay, I had to sort out a problem on another project.

I just tried to do what you suggested and I’m afraid it’s still not working… The website uses a full-width page layout, but I’ve created a regular new page using full width with sidebar just to test this, added the Products widget to the sidebar as you recommended and it doesn’t appear on it either :( In fact, this test page doesn’t show anything at all, which is really bizarre.

Is there anything else I can try besides the sidebar? I’m not sure if the issue is on the Page Builder as I didn’t use it now and the widget still didn’t appear, but I’m happy to try anything you suggest.

    Thanks so much again!
    Cynthia

    Hi, I Work Here

Hi Cynthia, thanks. Please, send a link to the test page and we’ll take a look.

I can’t… The whole website is not public yet and the client doesn’t allow me to share anything at all because the product is confidential :(

I do have a feeling I might be missing something, though… Maybe if I go step by step?

I’ve set up the WooCommerce plugin (added shop details and 2 fake products for now just to test). These products appear on both the WooCommerce and the Products side menu, and of course on the shop preview as well.
Then on the homepage, I’ve added a lot of widgets through SiteBuilder: SiteOrigin Hero, Vantage Headline, Products, SiteOrigin Image, etc etc. Everything looks great, but the Products widget doesn’t show anything. It doesn’t show an empty space on the homepage preview either, it’s just as if it wasn’t there at all. On the Edit option for the Products widget, I simply added a name and selected to show 2 products, but nothing else was changed (there isn’t much to change there anyway).
Am I missing something? Is there any trick needed to “link” the WooCommerce plugin to the Products widget on SiteBuilder?

Thanks again Andrew, really appreciate your help and sorry I’m not allowed to share the page with you! :/

    Hi, I Work Here

    Sure, no problem at all.

If the Products widget isn’t outputting any products when used in a theme widget area then SiteOrigin most likely isn’t involved. If you’d like you can troubleshoot the issue just in the theme widget area to rule out SiteOrigin completely.

Are the products published? If they are, you could consider reaching out to WooCommerce for a hand.

I figured it out – and, as expected, it was something silly that I didn’t notice… :P
The products were set as private view, not public, that’s why they weren’t appearing on the widget… duh! haha

    Thanks again, Andrew!
