Widgets Not Totally Removed

By coolspirit, 10 years ago. Last reply by Ting, 9 years ago.

I am using the vantage them and for some reason as I was working with it on a demo basis to work out the bugs before I used it for myself or clients, I noticed that when removed widgets from the footer or header or even sidebar, there was a space still remain as if they were still there. I also noticed when I used it to placed widgets in a site where I had as many as six widgets at one time that upon the removal of at least three of the widgets if not all at some point the widget would stack up vertically even if there wer only two or three of them.

It is as if there others from previous add and removal still remain hidden but there.
Can you help me fix this issue? Is there a fix other than deleting the whole site and starting again?
Thanks in Advance

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi coolspirit

    Thanks for running Vantage.

    We’d need to look at each one of these areas individually and see how they’re looking without widgets in them. At this url: http://lifeteachingministries.org/ there are widgets in all three areas so we can’t check that problem unfortunately, we’d need to see what’s going on without any added to the widget areas.

    I’m unfortunately not following your second point regarding widgets stacking up vertically. Can you perhaps elaborate on that?

    to elaborate, I placed widgets in the footer but instead of them being side by side horizontally across the footer, they were vertically stacked on top of each other. I will enter some in just a moment so that you can see.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Thanks for explaining. The Circle Icon widget unfortunately doesn’t do well in a footer position at the moment. Please try the following under Appearance > Custom CSS to resolve:

    /* Vantage Footer Circle Icon Widgets */

    #footer-widgets .widget.widget_circleicon-widget {
    display: inline-block;
    float: none;
    vertical-align: top;
    }

    HI Andrew;
    Under appearance, I do not see custom css area. If there is any clue as to why I do not could please help me out there. I know that I have seen it in the past but for some reason I seem to be overlooking it or maybe the theme is installed wrong. I would appreciate the assistance

    Thanks

    Similar issues are happening with the header. It seems to be holding the space where I placed a widget then removed it. Can you look at that to see why it would hold the space even after the widget has been removed. Also I went back to install text widgets in the footer and those behaved the same way that the widgets are behaving now.

    To give the whole picture, when I first installed them they behaved just fine but when I had as many as five or six widgets and then removed two or three of them leaving only the ones I wanted in the footer. the others would not align themselves next to each other in a horizontal fashion. They from that point on aligned themselves in the footer by stacking on top of each other vertically, if that helps.

    To sum it up, even though widgets were added and then removed in the footer or header, the space that they occupied appeared to be held even after they had been removed.

    I have solved the issue with loading the custom CSS as you suggested. Now, on to the header issue in the test site at

    http://www.btosolutionsonline.com/demo .

    Hi, I Work Here

    Please check what your header padding is set to under Appearance > Customize > General: Header Padding. If your header continues to hold padding after adjusting that setting then please look at your plugin setup. Your CSS is begin minified and cached by the looks of it. There could be a problem originating there.

    Hi Andrew,

    I followed this thread, but did not see the instruction how you helped coolspirit to resolve his custom CSS issue.

    I have the same problem. I do not see custom CSS under appearance with my installation for Vantage theme.

    Thank you in advance for your kind help!

    Ting
