Why does PageBuilder do this? (revert to editor)

Could someone please explain this statement in the doco?
“Page Builder copies all of your content to a Visual Editor widget in a single column row.”

Why?

As an example … I have just used a Prebuilt Layout and converted the content over to what I want, with fairly good success.
But, if I want to make even a simple change to say, some text, and if I use the text editor to do this, then when I revert back to PageBuilder it does what the doco says above, and totally screws everything up in the process. WHY? Why cant it maintain the original format with all the rows and other widgets?

This seems very counterproductive, almost to the point of being a bug.

I apologise in advance if I have missed something obvious. Perhaps I am not using PB as it is intended.

Cheers
Bob

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Bob,

So this is actually a misunderstanding. You should never revert to the editor unless you plan on no longer using Page Builder on that page. By clicking Revert to editor, you’re telling the plugin, “I no longer wish to use Page Builder”. Based on this information, the plugin will then remove its data (from that page) and port over what it can to the base editor. This means the previous page builder structure (as in widgets, and layouts) will be removed in the process (there’s no point in keeping it if you no longer wish to use it). It should be noted that there should be a prompt asking you if you wish to revert to the base editor. Said prompt will (briefly) explain what will happen if you revert. Is this not present for you?

The feature you referenced, porting post data over to an editor, is purely a convenience feature. It basically only moves over existing post data. Which in your case is the reverted data.
