Greetings all,
I wonder if someone can please help – yesterday in attempting to ‘fix’ another problem a colleague ticked the ‘allow anyone to register’ box.
I have now altered this back to it’s original but in the interim we have a few score registrants – the (potentitally idiotic) query is…. “what does that actually mean please?”
Hi phil
They are registered users under the Users tab in your WordPress left menu. To see any value in this you need to think of it from the other way around. Is there anything you need users to be registered to do? For example:
Users must be registered to:
Comment on a blog post
Purchase a product
View restricted content
etc.
So if there is nothing you need a signup for then you don’t need to offer it. The most common one asking users to register before commenting on a blog post.
Hope this clears things up a little.
aha, many thanks for that…
having found that and begun deleting them – as they appear to be spurious spam, perhaps an appropriate follow-up question is, can i delete them all easily or am i restricted to 20 at a time?
For sure.
You might need to consider a plugin like:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/bulk-delete/
Once again many thanks
No problem, glad that helped.
