When I go to edit a page as its loading i can see the Visual/Text editor tabs but as the page finishes loading they dissappear.
I need to edit some HTML in there…how do I get those back?
I have tried disabling pluggins and emptied cache too, still not there.
It seems to be a feature of the latest update to SiteOrigin.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks
Hi How2UseIT
Please, send a screenshot of the problem. https://imgur.com/upload is an easy way to upload. Thanks.
This is how it looks when first loading (i managed to grab a shot of it before it disappeared) – https://imgur.com/a/tIsrXEA
This is how it looks when fully loaded – https://imgur.com/a/PAOvXAJ
It used to have the tabs there all the time so that I could edit the HTML, but now i cant anymore.
Thanks
That’s correct. You can either manage a page or post in the classic WordPress editor OR in Page Builder. The page you’ve screenshotted has been built and managed in Page Builder. You can use the Revert to Editor button to move all content back to the classic WordPress editor but this will be a one time move, you won’t be able to edit each widget via the Page Builder interface after using the Revert to Editor button. Put another way, this is a Page Builder page, changes need to be made in Page Builder.
Hi Andrew,
Yeah I’ve been happily using page builder to design each page but only since the last update have the two tabs disappeared.
Say i uploaded a video in a widget and wanted it to auto play, i can do this by editing the HTML (which i was able to do and switch back and forth between page builder and raw html) but now that option has gone and I would very much like it back.
Can i roll back the update and go back to a previous version where it was working?
Hi, thanks for the feedback, that was a long time ago, it definitely wasn’t the last update. You can use https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-rollback/ if you want to roll back. I can’t say which version you’d have to roll back to. I’ll check for you now. We don’t recommend you use an older version of Page Builder though.
Ideally, Page Builder content shouldn’t be edited in the manner you’re describing as it can lead to issues.
For the Video widget issue, if you add the video using an Editor widget you can edit the source via the Text tab.
The reason the tabs were removed and replaced with a “Revert to Editor” button is it that users often accidentally moved content out of Page Builder, made a change that broke the page and then couldn’t migrate back in. We solved that with the layout you see now and the warning that appears when you click Revert to Editor.
WP Rollback will let you go as far back as Page Builder 2.3 which was released on February 10th, 2016. The behavior with regards to Revert to Editor was the same in version 2.3. Unfortunately, there aren’t older versions on WordPress.org. We also won’t be able to offer support that far back. Let me know if my feedback above helps with the video issue. If not, we’ll find a way to get that working for you :)
