vimeo embed and size adjust

I have tried to use [vimeo…] shortcode in the widget and simply get the shortcode output like normal text — not working.

I am trying to specify the size of my vimeo video eg. 320×209, within the pagebuilder widget. Please advise.

Thank you.

    Hi Agreen,

The [vimeo] shortcode is actually not present in the WordPress.org version of WordPress by default (you’ll need to install a plugin for that). Instead, the embed shortcode is. So, for example, try:

    [embed width="320" height="209"]VIMEOURLHERE[/embed]

Another option would be to simply copy and paste the URL to the Vimeo video and it’ll automatically be embedded, although this method won’t allow you to adjust the sizing while the former method will.

    Thanks for the reply Alex.

In fact I tried the “VIMEOURLHERE” method and an interesting thing happens: in the visual field of the edit page (and on the siteBuildOrigin Edit section of pageBuilder), the video resizes as specified. Great. BUT, when we view the actual page, the video appears at the original size. Hmmm.

    Hi Agreen5132,

That sounds like there’s something on the frontend enforcing a specific height. We do this in Vantage for example (for it to be responsive – we also allow for this functionality to be disabled).

Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on?

So I have gone to the text editor and put in two of the same video, the first with size specification and the second without.

As you can see from the live page, both appear exactly the same (original) size.

I also included on this project page, after the two videos) a screengrab of the text editor and how that appears in the visual editor. (The videos after the screengrabs have not been resized, please ignore.)

    Thanks.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Agreen,

I can confirm the theme you’re using has the same functionality (it’s called FitVids.js). I would check over your theme settings to see if you can find a setting to disable it (it should be labeled something like, Responsive Videos, FitVids). If you can’t, I would recommend getting in Contact with ThemeTrust and ask if it’s possible to disable FitVids.
