Hi,

I’m using the videowidget to display some youtube video. They were displaying fine but recently something broke.

To see for yourself:

http://www.patternsolutions.nl/optitex-3d/ halfway the page 2 videos beside each other.
First one uses the oEmbed option: video is too large
Second video without oEmbed option: does not display at all, it used to display fine.

Regards

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi,

Did you manage to resolve the issue with the second video? It visible for me.

Would it be possible for you to send me an export for this widget? To do this open up the page with the widget and click layout. Then click import / export and then click download. Please upload the export to a 3rd party file hosting site such as teknik.io.

Yes i solved it, but only by downloading the youtube video (which you’re not suppoed to do) and using the selfhosted option.
The external hosted option has still the issue.
If you are interested i can make a copy of this page with the issue.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi,

I was able to replicate this issue. Although The height of the video was different for me. :( So the main issue here is that you can’t manually specify a width or height. This means that you have to sort of rely on the plugin to work it out and the plugin isn’t always able to calculate the best dimensions.

As such, I’ve logged this as a feature request.

You have to workarounds for the time being. Switch to external in the video player widget or use the embed shortcode. To clarify, the Video Player widget is basically an interface for the embed shortcode.

on the test page i send you, the left video widget uses the external video link with oEmbed. This looks the same as when just adding the youtube link in a visual editor.

The right video widget is the external without oEmbed selected, this used to work fine but now it does not show anything at all?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi,

Yes, however when using the aforementioned embed shortcode you’re able to specify the width which isn’t possible in the Video Player Widget or adding the link directly to the editor.

I’m not too sure why the video on the right isn’t working but you’re able to use the share URL. I’m going to log this as an issue and log into this.
