Video Widget Rejects Youtube URLs

4 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 4 years ago

I have always pasted a youtube url into the video widget on page builder, but for some reason it is now giving me the message “Sorry, we can’t load the video at the supplied URL. Please check that the URL is for a supported video file (.mp4, .m4v, .webm, .ogv, .flv) or stream (e.g. YouTube and Vimeo)” even though it is a youtube link.

How do I get this to work again?

The URLs I’m trying to use is…
• https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-idUquqXFAk

    Hi Courtney

Thanks for reaching out. In the SiteOrigin Video Player Widget, please, ensure that you’ve selected Externally Hosted Video. It sounds like you might be editing after selecting Self Hosted Video.

    Hello Andrew,

I am posting through the "Insert Video URL" section, so it's not being hosted on the site. It's juat accessed through youtube.

Thanks for the update. Are you perhaps using the core WordPress Video Widget? Here is what I’m seeing in the SiteOrigin Video Player Widget: https://imgur.com/a/HS6r2dq.
