video problem on mobile / Tablet

Hi,

First of all thanks for your great work on Site Origin!

I’ve installed NORTH, everything is great, except that the background video (mp4 that I uploaded – less than 10Mo) is not playing on mobile or tablet. There are no problems on computers – chrome, FF or safari).

Would you have any advice ?
Thanx

James

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi James,

Are you using a recent version of iOS or Android? I ask because both Apple and Google only just recently stopped disabling autoplaying videos so if you’re not using a newer version with up to date versions of Safari or Chrome, the video won’t play.

Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at the video?

    Hi ALex,

    thanks for your reply.

I am using IOS 11.2.6 which seems to be up to date.
All my apps including safari or chrome are also up to date…

It seems that the file is to heavy and cannot load on my iphone. I haven’t tried an Android Phones.

    The url is http://www.ramcesprod.com.

    Thanks for your help,

    Hi Jmsainn,

That’s odd. The video doesn’t work for me either. Hm. I mean, it’s possible the video just hasn’t loaded or is get rejected. How large is the video?

    Hi,

the video is an mp4 that weights 9,7 Mo and lasts about 20 sec.

    It is really weird…

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jmsainclair,

Can you please try a smaller video to see if that helps? Ideally, in the range of 500kb.
If it doesn’t (or you would rather not), can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

    Hello,

    Thanks for your reply.

I tried with a smaller video but nothing changes.

I don’t have any plug-ins installed excepted site origin Page Builder & widget, and my theme is site origin North.

    I really don’t understand…
As you prposed, If you know another plugin that could work, I am interested.

    Cheers,

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jmsainclair,

Try Video Backgrounds for SiteOrigin Page Builder. It has a different setup so you may need to adjust your structure to try it.
