Video Embed Widget Suddenly stopped working

I’ve been using the video embed widget on numerous pages for months now with now problem and then suddenly the video embeds stopped.

The videos are externally hosted at YouTube.

Where the video should be displaying there is a black square with an odd clickable link that says “download file.” If you click that download file link it reloads the page.

You can see the issue here:

    Hi Mark

    Sorry to hear about the hassle. Your video seems ok in the page provided. Has anything changed on your side?

    Yes Andrew the reason it is working now is I had to delete the Site Origin Video Embed Widget and switch to using the Site Origin Slider and then I added a video as the foreground.

    I prefer using the video embed widget but it stopped working after the last site origin bundle update that I did.

    I just created a sample page so you can see the problem at wecutkc DOT COM /sample-page/

    I noticed a few things such as:

    If the YouTube url has a question mark such as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2e753dMnspI it displays as a colored square with a link that says download file and when that link is clicked it just reloads the page.

    If the YouTube url does not have a question mark such as https://youtu.be/2e753dMnspI it displays the video and the video plays however the responsive design is broken and the video goes clear off of the page.

    If I do not check the Oembed box it displays as a colored square with a link that says download file and when that link is clicked it just reloads the page.

    If I do check the Oembed box it displays the video and the video plays however the responsive design is broken and the video goes clear off of the page.

    One last thing… when viewing the source code I noticed this odd commented out code as follows:

    /* */

    Andrew, I was unable to post the odd and commented out code in my thread so I am emailing it so you can take a look.

    /* <![CDATA[ */

    var mejsL10n = {"language":"en-US","strings":{"Close":"Close","Fullscreen":"Fullscreen","Download File":"Download File","Download Video":"Download Video","Play\/Pause":"Play\/Pause","Mute Toggle":"Mute Toggle","None":"None","Turn off Fullscreen":"Turn off Fullscreen","Go Fullscreen":"Go Fullscreen","Unmute":"Unmute","Mute":"Mute","Captions\/Subtitles":"Captions\/Subtitles"}};

    var _wpmejsSettings = {"pluginPath":"\/wp-includes\/js\/mediaelement\/"};

    /* ]]> */

    Hi, I Work Here

    Thanks for the update, I’ll take a look shortly.

    If you are going to change from the Video widget I’d recommend using the SiteOrigin Editor widget instead, within that widget is a Text tab so you could just paste the YouTube embed iFrame code directly without any big wrapper around the widget.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Mmm, strange. I can use this URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2e753dMnspI and it works fine in the SiteOrigin Video Player widget. To minimize the code on your page I’d give the SiteOrigin Editor widget a try instead. You can either insert the link as is into the SiteOrigin Editor widget: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2e753dMnspI or you can go to YouTube, click Share > Embed > Video Size > Custom Size and setup a custom size iFrame for the job.
