Very slow load – dropping images in media gallery & meta slider

Hello
All has been going well except that Mr Google said my site was too slow to load. (Vantage & PageBuilder). Browsing your thread I installed WP-fastest-cache which completely knocked out the site and wouldn’t let me into WordPress.

I restored my site, but images in media section are now greyed out (can still see alt tags & titles) and only some appear in sliders on some pages. Alt tags appear for some instead of images and it has become really slow. My front page is also rather stuffed atm.

I deactivated the WP fastest cache and have refreshed but it’s quite evil at the moment.

I am a beginner, first website, non-coder, etc – need to be up and running asap unfortunately as have just started advertising site! Arrgh!

Any simple step by step advice welcome please.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Imstuck

Sorry to hear about the hassle. WP Fastest Cache, WP Super Cache and others all have certain settings that can cause issues with the themes. Minification of CSS files is one that often causes problems. Try using just the standard setup these plugins provide and leave the additional/advanced options OR experiment. When things break, roll back a few options.

Not quite sure what’s up with your site media. I’m unable to access your site at the moment. Please, let us know when access is restored and we’ll take a look.

(Did you clear WP Fastest Cache’s cache before de-activating it?)

    Hi Andrew
Sorry for the delay. We lost everything, media, database, then site. Only the coming soon page remained active.

It has been repaired now but I have not been game to experiment with that plug in again.

The issue of very slow loading remains. Any thoughts?

    Hi, I Work Here

Your background image is 745kb. That would be an easy place to start with optimisation. Reducing the size and then dropping the JPG quality on save would the be helpful. You should be able to get it down to around 200kb.

You could perhaps chat to your hosts about which WordPress caching plugin to use. They might have a recommended plugin that works well with their setup.

    Thanks Andrew
Will give that a try :)
