Hi,
My site has been running for several years with Vantage Premium.
Some plugins require an update to PHP 7.2 or 7.3 (I currently use PHP 7.0). When I update PHP, the site does not work anymore.
My hosting provider (OVH) confirmed that they support PHP 7.2 or 7.3 and told me that some components of the current site are not compatible with PHP 7.2 or 7.3. WordPress and all plugins are up to date so I assume the issue is with Vantage version.
What is the latest version of Vantage and where can I find it? Is this latest version compatible with PHP 7.3 ?
Many thanks,
Valérie.
Hi Valérie
Try temporarily deactivating all plugins and then upgrade the PHP version, does the issue persist in this state?
If you’re able to, it would be ideal for WP_DEBUG to be enabled, which would let you know exactly where the issue is. If that isn’t possible, the above test will help you narrow down where the issue is.

Hi Andrew,
The issue persists even after deactivating all plugins.
But you didn’t answer my question about Vantage update? What is the current version? Where can I find it?
Many thanks!
Valérie.
Hi Valérie
Thanks for your reply.
It would be best to enable debug so you can clearly see what the error is when changing PHP versions. The error printed on the screen or error log will tell you exactly where the issue is and what the issue is. How to enable debug.
Vantage Premium was discontinued in 2016, ideally, you should switch to the version of Vantage on WordPress.org. Ideally, make a backup of your site then switch to any other theme, delete Vantage then go to ThemesAdd Newsearch for Vantage and install. Further information on the discontinuation is below. Thanks.

In early August 2016 we stopped selling Vantage Premium and introduced SiteOrigin Premium, a single plugin that adds additional functionality to Page Builder by SiteOrigin, the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle and all of our themes. In August of 2018 we discontinued email support and updates for Vantage Premium.
Almost all of the additional settings previously found in Vantage Premium are now part of the free Vantage theme hosted on the WordPress.org theme directory. This version is being regularly updated. Footer Attribution and Ajax Comments, two options previously part of Vantage Premium are now addons in SiteOrigin Premium.
If you’d like to make use of the Footer Attribution and Ajax Comments addons in SiteOrigin Premium as well as email support and a host of additional functionality, please find a 30% discount code below:

I modified the wpconfig file like this:
define(‘WP_DEBUG’, true);
define(‘WP_DEBUG_LOG’, true);
define(‘WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY’, false);
I changed my php version again.
But there is no debug.log file at the place it should be… I really don’t understand why…
Thanks for your help…
What happens after updating your PHP version?
The site does not work anymore after updating the PHP version.
The serveur send this message when I refresh the site:
“”Not Implemented
GET to /prestations/ not supported.
Additionally, a 501 Not Implemented error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.”
On the admin interface, the message is :
“GET to /wp/wp-admin/plugins.php not supported.
Additionally, a 501 Not Implemented error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.”
Thanks. If you temporarily switch to another theme and try the PHP upgrade, does the same error occur when changing the PHP version?
Is there a risk in doing this?
Many features will disappear…
Will I find my site exactly the same when switching to Vantage?
This is part of normal troubleshooting. There shouldn’t be any issues related to switching themes.
Additionally, if you aren’t finding the debug.log file in the /wp-content/ folder you should change define(‘WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY’, false); to true while troubleshooting so that errors will be printed to the page as they occur.
I did that but unsuccessfully. No log file, no display on the page…
Thanks. Temporarily switching themes to a default theme and then upgrading the PHP version will be the next step.
I switched to twenty eleven theme (php 7.3 compatible)
and I have the same issue when updating php!
Thanks, the issue isn’t related to Vantage then.
One possibility is a PHP memory shortage. You can increase PHP memory yourself or you can ask your hosts to help. 256MB should be enough.
Ideally, you’d have access to the error log. If you do contact your hosts, perhaps mention that. They could check the general PHP error logs for your hosting installation. Without the error logs it’s a guessing game.
Hi Andrew,
I have fixed this issue by setting the php version on my hosting provider dashboard!
A very basic solution!
Thank you for your help. I learned a lot from you.
Valérie.
Super, glad to hear you’ve made progress :) Thanks for the update.
