Vantage theme – Woocommerce blurry thumbnail images-Stumped?

Hi, I’ve been using the Vantage theme with Woocommerce for my soy candle business. A while ago (last year or so), I noticed my thumbnail images were one day blurry. I looked into how to fix the issue but had no luck so I just removed any thumbnail images.

I now would like to be able to feature more images in the way of thumbnails and trying again to figure out how to fix the blurriness with no luck. When I click on the thumbnails they look great enlarged, but very blurry as the thumbnail.

My images are very high quality/resoulution (2200×2200), and my settings (under customize/WooCommerce/Product images) are main image 600×600, thumbnail: 150, cropping: 1×1.

Looking at some older threads here, one solve I read was to use the plugin Regenerate Thumbnails, which I tried, but wasn’t able to fix the issue. I also looked through documentation on the WooCommerce help page but wasn’t able to find a solution.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi EarthandWick

    Thanks for getting in touch.

Do you perhaps have a public URL where we can look at what’s going on?

Some info from WooCommerce on this topic: https://woo.com/document/fixing-blurry-product-images/.

Hi Andrew, thank you for taking a look here. The URL is https://earthandwick.com

If you navigate to the Shop page, I’ve added a second image to the Apple Harvest candle where you can see where the thumbs are blurry.

    Thanks!

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks, 150×150 thumbnails are being used in a 203×203 container. At CustomizeWooCommerceProduct Images, what is your Thumbnail Width set to? Try 300.

Thanks Andrew. Your suggestion did help the images on my shop page (where you see the collection of products) look much better, so thank’s for that!

Unfortunately, the two thumbnails on the Apple Harvest product description page still look very blurry. I just tried using the regenerate thumbnails, Woocommerce/Status/Tools, but they are still blurry. Any suggestions?

    Hi, I Work Here

I’m glad to hear you’re making progress. Vantage isn’t altering the standard WooCommerce output for the gallery thumbnail sizes. You can find a snippet to adjust the size here https://mikeyarce.com/2018/04/how-to-override-woocommerce-image-sizes/; see the heading “woocommerce_gallery_thumbnail”. The provided filter can be added to a child theme functions.php file or a plugin like Code Snippets.
