Vantage theme | Circle icons and SiteOrigin Button do not display Awesomefont

Hi,

I am using the Vantage theme and I am having a problem with the display of the awesome font.

The awesomefont is used by the Circe Icons-widget and the SiteOrigin Button-widget. Since yesterday the awesomefont is not displayed anymore but instead you can see the default square used when a font is not available (see: anderhalvegraad.nl/test/).

– The awesomefont itself has not been changed since the installation of the theme.
– Yesterday I did do the WordPress v5.4.2 update

Could you please help me debugging this problem?

Thanx,
Gert

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Gert

    Thanks for reaching out.

If you open your browser console (https://wordpress.org/support/article/using-your-browser-to-diagnose-javascript-errors/#step-3-diagnosis) you’ll see the errors. CORS errors are usually a result of a domain mismatch such as using http for your WordPress URL and https for your Site URL. You can check your URL’s at SettingsGeneral. I don’t think that’s the issue, I’m not quite sure what the problem is. You can perhaps check that your URL’s exactly match at SettingsGeneral and if they do, perhaps try temporarily deactivating all plugins not authored by SiteOrigin, does the issue resolve in that state?

    Hi Andrew,

Thank you for responding. You were right: the HTTP-HTTPS thingy had nothing to do with it. It seems that it still was some kind of a CORS error. I still do not know how though.

I have been playing around with some CORS settings using the redirection-plugin. Then thought better of it and removed those instructions. After your remark I started looking there again and looking that not help. So I deactivated the plugin which did not help either. Then I removed the plugin and that did the trick.

Somehow these CORS instructions kept on being used even after deactivating the plugin. Buhh.

Thanx again for your help and have a good day.

    Kind regards,
    Gert
