Vantage Theme breaking lightboxes & galleries

The following lightbox/gallery plugins did not work correctly with the Vantage (Premium, in my case) theme, but did work with twentyfifteen:

The failure mode was the same for all three of the above, the click event handler for the image links was removed or ignored. Clicking the link would simply navigate to the image instead of opening in a lightbox.

The image uploader displayed a loading overlay and icon, but was otherwise non-functional.

I was eventually able to get the jQuery plugin, Lightbox2, working by ensuring that it loaded last. To do this, I had to make vantage-main a dependency when enqueuing the script, and load it in the footer. Only then would the lightbox function as expected.

I tried disabling all other plugins, including Page Builder and Meta Slider, and experienced the same behavior.

    Thanks for your detailed feedback. Have you made further progress on this challenge? Is there one plugin from this list you’d prefer to be using? Perhaps I could start by looking into that specific plugin’s issue?
