Im trying to add a contact form to the home page … and every time I tell it to add to post … it doesn’t .. please help

It depends on what contact form you are using. If the plugin allows you to insert using a shortcode then use the Visual Editor widget (http://wordpress.org/plugins/black-studio-tinymce-widget/) in it’s HTML tab to insert the shortcode into Appearance > Home Page. Alternatively some contact form plugins will have a widget which you can insert into Custom Home Page using the + button.
