Vantage Premium – WPML Widgets – Page Builder Conflict in Footer

Hello Support Team,

I am using Vantage Premium with WPML to translate the site from English to Swedish. In order to display widgets in the right language on the English or Swedish versions of the site, I’m using the WPML Widgets plugin. This set-up works great in the header and sidebar.

However, I’m running into a conflict in the footer. I created the footer content using the Page Builder Layout Builder widget. I first created the English version, set it to display on the English pages only, and the layout was exactly as I intended it (see http://www.gctools.se/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/gctools-footer-no-problem.png for a screenshot).

Then I created the Swedish version, set it to display on the Swedish pages only, and this is where the problem occurred. On the English page, all of the English footer content was squished to being only on the left half of the footer, with the other half a space as though it was a placeholder for something (see http://www.gctools.se/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/gctools-problem-footer.png for a screenshot). Switching to the Swedish view, it shows the Swedish content and again is only on the left half of the page with the right half blank as though it’s a placeholder for something.

If I remove either the English or Swedish versions, the alternate language footer displays properly again. As soon as I add in the language version I removed, the problem happens again.

Can you please help to resolve this problem? I’ve left it live online so you can see the problem at www.gctools.se.

Thank you,
Rachel

    Hi Rachel

    The easiest way to resolve this might be to try the footer without the Layout widget. The footer will automatically split into columns as widgets are added. If the layout you’re after is more complicated please let me know and we’ll try help.

    The Layout widget is still pretty new. We’ll need to take a look at that with WPML. They haven’t yet been tested together.

    Hi Andrew,

    I’ve removed the Layout Builder widget and have just dropped the 3 widgets in that I want to use – a custom menu, email sign up form (magic action box) and a text widget for the ‘about’ section. This didn’t resolve the issue. Do you have another suggestion?

    Thanks,
    Rachel

    Thanks for the update. Please try inserting the following under Appearance > Custom CSS:

    /* Footer */
    #footer-widgets .widget {
    width: 33%;
    }

    Awesome. That worked perfectly. Thank you!

    Super, glad that did the trick.
