Vantage Bizarre Caching Issue

By raphael3, 7 years ago. Last reply by Alex S, 7 years ago.

I’ve got the pro version of Vantage, have been using it well for years. On my most recent update something quite odd has happened. I’ll preface this by saying I use no caching plugin, and I had Sucuri troubleshoot this by bypassing their firewall/caching too, so we know it’s not that. I’ve also stopped all my plugins and that also did not correct what I will explain.

If you go to housingwithatwist.com, however over any menu item (light purple). Notice the light purple color. Notice the Vantage headline, and notice the text on the footer. Those are all old versions of my site. Now click our pricing page. All of a sudden you will see my new menu items and new menu hover colors (dark blue). You will see the new Vantage headline and the new footer content. And all these changes will remain if you click on almost any page.

However if you click on the home button to come back home, poof all my changes are gone. This is also the case if you click “contact” (managed by a plugin) or our photo gallery (managed by a plugin). Somehow Vantage is using 2 menu’s, 2 choices of headline, 2 footers, an so on. I have no idea how this is possible. Ideas?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Raphael,

Oh, I didn’t see that you had posted this on the forums. To help others, I’m going to post the solution to this publicly. Let me know if you would like me to remove it.

Raphael had W3 Total Cache installed roughly 1.5 months ago. He has since disabled it but sadly there were remnants of it still being active on his website. He was able to disable it by removing its contents from his .htaccess. For reference, here are the suggested troubleshooting steps:

I know that sounds like a weird question but certain cache plugins will run (once setup) regardless of whether they’re active in WordPress or not. If you do, try enabling it again and disabling the plugin within its settings. If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to remove all instances of the cache plugin on your web server. This will require using FTP so if you need help with this, I would contact your hosting provider.
