Using Page Builder within Pod templates

I am setting up a site using PODS for creating a few Custom Post Types, some relationships between them and corresponding POD templates. My POD templates work but are still very basic and I would like to use Page Builder (that I use successfully on another site) to build up the POD Templates.

So for clarity, I need to use PB within the POD Template editor. It is clear to me how to use PB for creating new individual posts based on the CPTs. But that is not what I need.

I already managed to access the PB editor within the POD Template editor. However, the PB content ends up in a separate box and does not become part of the template. Probably as a result, the PB content is ignored in the resulting pages.

Is there a way that I can use PB in this way?

On the PODS forum I found this thread: http://pods.io/forums/topic/page-builder-on-custom-posts/ . It mentions a “register_post_type” value that should be provided by the manufacturer of the page builder manufacturer. But I’m not sure if this the right answer to my question.

Thanks,

Joost

    Hi Joost

Thanks for your question. I’ve done the briefest of tests now. After creating your Pod you can go to Settings > Page Builder > General, there you should find your pod and can enable Page Builder of that post type/pod.

Haven’t tested beyond that. Let me know how it goes :)

    Hi Andrew,

Thank for your reply. That is what I already had done. This adds two thing:

    1. a Page Builder option if you create a new post based on the PODS-based CPT. This works fine but only for creating individual posts and not yet for the template
    2. a Page Builder option in the POD template section. This looks very promising indeed but it adds a seperate Page Builder box that does not become part of the template. Any content in that box seems to be ignored by the POD template

The second option comes close to what I need but either it is not implemented correctly yet or I miss something myself (which I don’t exclude ;-) )

    Hi, I Work Here

I wish I could investigate this further. At the moment, all I can do is log a feature request and ask our developers to investigate compatibility when they’re able. Our development schedule is usually set quite far in advance so I usually can’t request resources to immediately investigate something, not unless it’s a critical bug.
