Url link error when referencing Meta Slider

I’m seeing the following error when I try to link to an existing Meta slider in the Vantage theme:

I’m linking to the slider from a SiteOrigin Image widget (using “destination URL” opton) & SiteOrigin Editor widget (link inserted into text), and getting the same error. What’s strange is that it worked perfectly last night. But as soon as I tried the links this morning, they all failed. The links take me to “page not found” and generate the link error above. I’m seeing the same error on my live site.

I’ve tried the following:

Verified that the slider Id in the link is correct
Created new slider with new name/Id and tried to link – failed
Tried to link to other existing sliders – failed
Deactivated plugins
verified that the slider works when directly inserted into a page
Verified that I can link to other pages with no problem
No custom CSS
Verified that all plugins/Wordpress are up to date

Any idea? Very strange since it worked last night.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Lbennett14,

It doesn’t appear as though you can directly link to the meta slider like this as the sliders aren’t publicly queryable. I’m not too sure how you previously did it but I can’t seem to do it with any of my test setups. To clarify, what are you trying to do? (so I can get a better idea of how to provide instructions on how to do this) Are you trying to have a lightbox or something like that?

That’s interesting. I definitely had it working in my local test environment until I shut down the server and restarted it the next morning. I didn’t try it on my production site until the next day, and by then it wasn’t working in either environment. Who knows.

I was simply trying to list a group of books images on a page with a link from each of those image to a slider with expanded details for each one. Why are the sliders listed in the drop down selection box of the widget (to add a link) if they can’t actually be linked to?

Anyway… I never thought about a lightbox. I actually like that idea even more. I’m going to install a lightbox widget and try that route next.

    Hi Lbennett,

That’s definitely not possible with the SiteOrigin Image widget as that functionality was never considered during development – sorry mate. It’s an oversight. I’ll log it as a bug and it’ll be removed in a future version. Sorry about this!

That is really strange. Does SiteOrigin have a lightbox widget?

    Hi Lbennett14,

Unfortunately, not at this moment, no but we’re aiming to have one soon.
