Updating from Vantage Premium 2.2 to 2.5.4

I’m still new to all this WordPress stuff, and not sure what to do at times. First I have exported a backup for the website to a safe location. Lately I have had problems trying to update info, from merchandise inventory, uploading pic or videos, and doing simple text replacement on a page that is already there. I have updated all the plugins that say to update, that is all but Vantage Premium. We are running 2.2 and it’s asking to update to 2.5.4. My question is after reading some other post, by updating, will we loss all our pages that are there now? I see it’s saying any custom type stuff will be lost. That is also what I’m not sure about. I have not rewrote any codes. All the pages are built using Page Builder for the most part. Please, any words of advice would be great appreciated. We are right in the middle of taking in applications for our scholarship program, and the last thing we need is the site to go down.

Thank you,
Tony

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Tony,

    Very sorry for the delay.

The only thing you’ll lose are any direct theme edits – such as changing a line of CSS in the style.css. Pages, plugins, data, etc will not be affected by the update.

Although, actually that’s not 100% true. In Vantage 2.5 we do a large settings overhaul so we do however process the theme settings on update to allow for it to work with the new settings interface – although this only happen once and nothing else will be touched. I would recommend giving the documentation a read on some of the new settings and adjustments.

Also, just to be on the safe side I would recommend doing this update in the middle of the night and make sure you’ve got an automated backup system so you can easily restore if need be.
