Updated plug in caused fatal error?????

I’m new to wordpress and to siteorigin. However, I keep being told that the pagebuilder is what is holding me back and causing me problems. I love the pagebuilder and was getting ready to pay for premium. However, I can’t have my site going down all the time due to issues. Tonight, I was prompted to stop using the widgets available and upload the new legacy widgets. I did so, and fatal error occurred. Does this happen often?
Error reads: Fatal error: Cannot redeclare origin_widgets_init() (previously declared in /home4/waggz40ad4b6/public_html/wp-content/plugins/siteorigin-panels/widgets/widgets.php:9) in ?home4/waggz40ad4b6/public_html/wpcontent/plugins/siteorigin-panels-legacy-widgets/siteorigin-panels-legacy-widgets.php on line 27.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Seahorsewhisperer,

I’m unsure what siteorigin-panels-legacy-widgets but the instance of that plugin present is causing you issues because SiteOrigin Page Builder is only designed to have a single instance of the plugin running at once (and you have two).

Please connect to your website via FTP and navigate to wp-content/plugins/ and delete siteorigin-panels-legacy-widgets. Does this error remain?

If you’re unfamiliar with FTP, I would recommend getting in contact with your hosting provider for assistance with this.

I’m not sure either. I followed a message on my site that led to siteorigin’s page. I understand my mistake now, trying to upload a new version without deleting the old. Thank you. If I were to deactive the siteorigin plugins, will all published pages or blogs that I used the pagebuilder on have issues? Or only affect pages not published?

When I get these messages saying that I should be using the “new” siteorigin plugins, and am directed to siteorigin to download, should I just ignore them? Through wordpress, these should become available and update through my site automatically, right?

    Hi Seahorsewhisperer,

If SiteOrigin Page Builder is disabled, the pages won’t display well but a basic form of the page would still show. The pages will be restored once you activate the main version of the plugin.

If you can you should be using the new version (siteorigin-panels), not the legacy version (siteorigin-panels-legacy-widgets) as the new version is better. You may, however, experience issues by changing to the latest version due to the lack of legacy support (which is what the other version suggests anyway). As such, I would recommend doing a backup before proceeding.
