Unwind update removes Custom Widgets

Hi Team,
Updating to the Latest version of Unwind removes custom Widget Areas, as well as preventing us form adding custom Widget Areas.

This interferes with our other plugins such as amr shortcode any widget.

We hope you can amend this bug on our FAVORITE theme.
Thank you for your hard work!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Marc

How were your custom widget areas added?

    Greetings Andrew.
Via Plug-in. AMR Shortcode Any Widget to be precise. This plugin works on all my theme, exept with the new Unwind Theme Update.
After the update, the widget areas were removed and new widgets can be added.

Thank you for your quick reply and AWESOME work on this theme.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for the information and your support. There isn’t anything in this update that I can think would impact the functioning of AMR Shortcode Any Widget. The only PHP change that was made was to single.php and is minor, all the other changes were CSS based.

Here is a quick demo of AMR in Unwind: https://imgur.com/a/2szGsgP.

I recommend troubleshooting the issue. The initial task is to establish a working baseline. Can you get AMR and Unwind working together? To find a baseline, start by deactivating all non-SiteOrigin plugins and test. If you’re using child theme, test with the child if it fails, test with the parent theme.

We recovered a backup and will follow your advice.
We will start with the theme update, and if it is that, we will inform you.

Site Origin is the best thing ever and it fills us with pride to help in any little way!

    Thanks, Andrew!

    Hi, I Work Here

Glad to hear you’ve made progress.

    Possible ideas are:
AMR stores widget areas with theme settings which are linked to the theme slug (name). Are you using a child theme? If so, did you switch to the parent theme after the update? If so, that would have caused your widget areas to no longer to appear. The same issue would occur if you had edited the parent (main Unwind theme) stylesheet and changed the slug, the update would have restored the slug. If your widget areas were saved under the edited slug, this could have caused the widget areas to be “removed”.

If none of the above applies, you update and the same issue occurs, please go through my troubleshooting steps. Strip everything away except for Unwind and AMR and try to establish a working baseline from which to test from.
