unwanted hover effect on sow-slider-image-container

Hi, I believe since the last update, there’s a new hover effect which overlays a grey box around my hero animation – I’ve identified this as the site sow-slider-image-container.

Please see https://www.thephysiobot.com/ to see what I mean. The grey appears over the video/animation which should remain entirely white.

Is there a quick fix to avoid this?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Sean

Thanks for posting. If the issue is still visible, can you perhaps let us know if we should test using a particular browser? I’m having trouble seeing the hover effect at the moment.

    Kind regards

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your response. I’m using Chrome Version 122.0.6261.129 (Official Build) (64-bit) on my Windows laptop. The effect is subtle, but the background colour of the video is white sometimes, and then not on others (typically linked to the movement of the mouse)

The effect is more pronounced when I use my high contract monitor (same browser).

Interestingly, I can’t see the effect when I use my phone, which I’m assuming is because of the absence of mouse movements?

The discolouration is exactly the size and shape of the sow-slider-image-container.

This effect is also visible on another part of the site, where too there is another video – https://www.thephysiobot.com/app/ during in initial splash screen animation, there is a discolouration around the video part of the screen.

You may be able to see it more if your screen is set to higher contrast?

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks, Sean. Can you perhaps check another browser to confirm the issue isn’t browser settings related? I’m having trouble replicating the issue across displays and browsers.

I’d send a screenshot if I was able to.

Yes, the problem is still there when I use Edge.

    Hi, I Work Here

You can upload to WeTransfer.com or any similar location and share the link. Thanks.

Thanks Andrew, I’ve upload a selection

FYI the grey overlay seems to disappear when I click on the browser scroll bar, but reappears periodically when I click on the page or scroll with the mouse.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks. I’m not sure why I can’t replicate the issue. You can try editing the frame in your Hero and opening the Background section. Clear the Background color value and see if that helps.

It might be easier to see if you adjust your screen contrast settings. On my laptop it’s subtle, on my monitor however it’s very visible.

I tried changing the colour of the frame to white + no transparency, as well as white + full transparency and neither worked.

I don’t think it’s the frame setting, as it’s also present on another page where a separate video plays https://www.thephysiobot.com/app/.

These are the only two instances of this occurring on the site, with the common feature being they occur when videos are playing. One video is embedded within a Hero row (homepage) and another is within a webapp. Importantly, on the webapp, the grey only exists on the part of the screen where the video is playing, not the full screen.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for the update. I can’t replicate it on either of my displays. I’m trying to find the issue at the code level. Please try clearing the frame background color value. At the moment, it’s set to #30373e. Please let me know when that’s done so I can confirm in the page source.

If you have a friend or another computer available, please try confirming the issue across computers.

    Hi, I Work Here

I do hear you on the issue occurring in two different situations, a Hero and an Editor Widget. Checking across two different computers would be hugely helpful to rule out a computer specific problem.

    Hi Andrew,

I can confirm the problem exists across 2 separate laptops (one more subtle on my laptop no monitor, and the second on another laptop connected to an external monitor – which seems to exacerbate the problem).

    Hi, I Work Here

I’ve tried zooming in and out in my browser, using different resolutions, displaying for mobile, etc. No joy on my end. Please try creating a test page. Add a video without using Page Builder or SiteOrigin Widgets. Does the issue persist?

    Hi Andrew,

I’ve created a new page https://www.thephysiobot.com/test/ with no Page Builder or SiteOrigin Widgets involved and the problem persists. I’m guessing this means it’s a theme issue?

    Hi, I Work Here

Solid progress. The next step is to test the page with a default theme like Twenty Nineteen activated and all plugins deactivated. Does the issue persist?
