unexpected large row above footer with only search symbol

Theme SiteOrigin North
After changing from PHP 7.4 to PHP 8 all pages except the homepage show a
large blank row (about 200 px) above footer with only the search symbol in upper right corner.
How can I get rid of this?

    Thanks for reaching out.

    Is there perhaps text in the row that is the same color as the row background?

    Please, try a quick plugin conflict test. Temporarily deactivate all plugins except for those authored by SiteOrigin. Does the issue persist?

    Hi Andrew,
    the problem is solved!
    I did a misconfiguration in the theme customizer for the default widgets in the Main Side bar.
