Unable to Edit on Live Editor through Page Builder

3 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 3 years ago

I’m not sure what happened, but after doing all the regular updates, I am no longer able to use the live editor on my site. It still pops up, but does not have any of the content, and I’m unable to shift, adjust, or click on any of the content. I’ve deactivated and activated all of my plugins and gone through to update everything. It is still not working though, and I’m not sure what to do next. I’ve followed a couple forums that I thought could help, with no result. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I realize this is only happening for a few pages, halfway for some, and then completely working for others.

    Hi Maddi

    Thanks for reaching out.

Please, try seeking a working baseline. Does the issue resolve if you temporarily deactivate all plugins except for those authored by SiteOrigin? Once all non-SiteOrigin plugins are deactivated, please, pause and check for the issue. If you’re using the Classic Editor plugin, you can leave it activated for this test. The goal is to find a working baseline.

    Kind regards

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

Thank you for your response. I just deactivated all plugins except for the SiteOrigin ones, as you said. Unfortunately, the issue was still present.

    My best,
    Maddi

    Hi Maddi

    Thanks for the update.

Please, try extending the test as follows:

    – Temporarily switch to a default theme like Twenty Nineteen.
    – Temporarily deactivate all plugins not authored by SiteOrigin.

    Does the issue persist?

    Hi Andrew,

Yes the issue is still persisting, even after this latest test.

Thanks for trying. Please, take a few screenshots of the issue as presented and upload them to any online location like your Media Library in WP or Drive/Dropbox/Imgur.com and share the link. We’ll take a look and try to assist from there.

    Here you go,
As you can see, on some pages the content pops up, on others only half, and then on some pages, none of the content is appearing at all.
it is happening in the normal editor, as well.

Thanks. I don’t think this is related to the Live Editor. Do you have Revisions enabled on these pages? Can you roll back?

  9. Maddi Albregts 3 years, 10 months ago

Okay, and yes I do have revisions enabled on these pages. How should I go about rolling back?

  10. Andrew Misplon Staff 3 years, 10 months ago

Clicking Screen Options top right allows you to toggle revisions on/off. With the Revisions checkbox enabled, scroll down to the Revisions section. Check the edit history and try clicking on a recent revision. The goal of this test is to roll back only as far as is necessary to restore the missing widgets on the page.

I should have said that the Screen Options “Revisions” checkbox only changes whether the Revisions section is displayed on the page; it doesn’t turn revision functionality on or off.

I was able to do all of this. I went back a couple years worth of revisions and a couple of the widgets showed up again. It was still only the top two though, and the rest remained blank.
