Hello,
I am unable to update two of my main pages for my site after a plugin update that occurred two weeks ago. Seventeen out of 19 pages I am able to edit.Please find below the issue and steps I have taken to resolve:
https://fillol.se/wp-admin/post.php?post=1134&action=edit
By process of elimination this plugin (SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle) appears to be what is causing the issue.
* Version: 1.68.4
* Author: SiteOrigin
* Last Updated: 2 weeks ago
* Requires WordPress Version: 4.2 or higher
* Compatible up to: 6.8.1
What I have done to resolve the issue:
I have deactivated all non site origin plugins and still receive the same 500 error.
Incognito mode also does not work.
Deactivated all plugins with exception of SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle and Page Builder by SiteOrigin switch to theme Twenty Twenty-Five.
1. Deactivate site origin page builder
2. Deactivate site origin widget bundles the same message appears when trying to edit the page.
Still receive the 500 errors and unable to edit pages. All other pages are I am able to edit.
Hi, thanks for posting.
Please try contacting your hosts and ask if they can please check their ModSecurity or similar firewall logs. It’s possible there is content on the impacted pages being flagged as a false positive and blocked at the server level.
Hello Andrew,
Thank you for the response. I will contact my hosting company and respond back to you once I have a response.
Kind Regards,
Joseph Renda
Super; sounds like a plan. Chat then.
Cheers

Hi Andrew,
My hosting provider suggested that I turn off WAF for my site, which I did. After attempting to update the main page of my site I still receive a 500 error. I will wait 24hrs to see if it will help and retry to update the site.
In the mean time, if it does not work, I will change my site theme to Twenty Twenty-five, turnoff the two main Site-Orgin plugins and edit the pages. I will post the results and screen shots shortly.
Kind Regards,
Joseph Renda
Hi Joseph
Thanks for the update.
We’ve seen edge cases where the Wordfence plugin installed on another site on a shared server impacted a site without the plugin installed. That’s a remote possibility.
Steps you can try now are:
— Rule out a third-party plugin involvement. Test the home page with only SiteOrigin Page Builder and the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle activated, no other plugins activated.
— If the issue persists, temporarily switch to a default theme and test with only Page Builder and the Widgets Bundle activated.
— If the issue persists, open the browser console in the WordPress admin and check for errors in red text when the issue occurs. Screenshot, upload to any online location and share the link here if errors are present which they should be.
— Finally, you can also send us a copy of the page. When editing, click Layouts in the Page Builder toolbar then LayoutsImport/ExportDownload Layout. Upload the JSON file to WeTranfer, Dropbox or any online location and share the link here.
Hi Andrew,
Thank you for the thorough update. After turning off the WAF for 24 hours I am now able to update all pages on SiteOrigin.
Not sure why the WAF affected only two of the 19 pages but that is for another day.
Thank you for the assistance. Please feel free to resolve this case.
Kind Regards,
Joseph Renda
Hi Joseph
Thanks for the update; glad to hear you’re making progress.
Some piece of content on those two pages is triggering a false positive in the WAF rules. We don’t get access to those rules so it’s always a tough one to diagnose.
If any follow-up queries arise, please let us know.
Cheers for now.
Andrew
