Top navigation menu covers site content

Hi,

I’ve tried to look for a solution for my problem on this forum, but either the problems described by other users don’t apply in my case, or the solutions don’t work.

I have a semi-transparent top navigation menu on my website that is overlapping some content (hero images, sometimes text). I would like the site’s content to have a margin of 30px (top menu’s height) so it doesn’t show underneath the menu. Also, I would like this to be applicable to all sites, not only the home page.

Can you help me out, please?

    Hi Wawrzyniec,

Sorry for the late reply. We work through a prioritized forum queue, and unfortunately, it’s taken us some time to get to your thread.

I’ve taken a quick look at your website and I can’t seem to see the issue described. Did you manage to resolve this issue? If not, we’ll jump right in.

    Hi Alex,

I can’t manage to fix it. Sorry if my explanations are unclear. Below I’m including some pictures to show you what I mean.

    homepage
Here the arrow shows the border of the hero image which is slightly covered by the top menu bar. The pink line highlights the border for better clarity.
I would like to bring the content lower, so that the bar doesn’t cover anything. I know I can simply add an empty paragraph on top of everything, but I’m looking for a universal solution that works by default on all pages.

Same here, this is my chekout page (for selling my services).
    checkout
As you can see, there is some hidden text below the bar and the logo (which is part of the bar).

I hope this clarifies my issue.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Wawrzyniec,

Thank you for that. You’re right, I was looking for something else – sorry about that!

Please navigate to WP AdminAppearanceCustomize and then Theme SettingsHeader. Adjust the bottom margin to an amount that you’re happy with. I would recommend around 30px.

Be sure that you haven’t adjusted the page settings to prevent this setting from taking effect. For reference, these settings (which are visible when editing the page) are Masthead Bottom Margin (it should be enabled) and Menu Position (it should be set to Default).

Thank you! That’s exactly what I was trying to resolve. I tried changing these options in the past but apparently haven’t come up with this combo. It works perfect.

Side note: don’t apologize for late replies – I genuinely think waiting 4 days for an issue to be resolved is ok, given the amount of threads on this forum. Keep up the good work and thanks again!
