I am trying to figure out how to:
Place a thumbnail image next to each listing on my category/archive pages without having to specify a featured image on each post. Alternatively, if I set a featured image for the purpose of creating the thumbnail, can I prevent it from being displayed at the top of the post (that placement is the main reason I don’t like to specify the featured image).
Also, if a post doesn’t contain an image, can I specify an image for the purpose of the thumbnail without making that image visible on the post?
I might be able to find a plugin to handle these items, but I wanted to ask here first to make sure I’m not overlooking some basic functionality already available to me. Again, I’ve tried “set featured image”, but it places the big image at the top of the post and I do not want that to happen.
Thanks!
Chris
Hi there,
I did not want my featured image showing up above each post, so I hid it.
Use this:
article.post .entry-header .entry-thumbnail {
display: none;
}
In the custom CSS page for your theme.
Hope it helps,
Alexa
Hi Chris
Appearance > Theme Settings > Blog > Featured Image will let you hide/show the featured image on single posts only. There is unfortunately no way within the theme settings to assign a default featured image.
Let me know if I missed anything.
@Alexandra Baciu-Giula thanks for helping out.
