theme styled blog posts page integrated into static page

By bitkar, 4 years ago. Last reply by Andrew Misplon, 4 years ago.

Hello, Iam looking for a solution to place theme styled posts (the same appearence of post thumbnails on a blog page) to be put anywhere i need on a static page. There are post carousels and other plugins but the look is different from the original look of the theme.
Is there a way to integrate the posts (grid) to a static page?
Look at www.ozveny24.cz I need those posts to be where i need them and I need them to look like the theme.

Thank you

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi, thanks for reaching.

It’s possible using the Post Loop widget but your theme would need to make post loop templates available. If your theme doesn’t you could consider using a child theme and adding templates yourself.

Here is how you might add post loop templates to a child theme: Page: Post Loop Widget.

Here is what a template looks like in our Corp theme: https://github.com/siteorigin/siteorigin-corp/blob/develop/loops/loop-blog-standard.php

    Hi, I Work Here

    For sure.

Do you have any custom development experience or do you perhaps have someone that could help you out with this? It’s a relatively simple task for someone that has done this sort of work before. If you aren’t already using a child theme you might find one in your theme’s documentation. Theme authors often provide one there for download.

If you get stuck, this is something we could assist with as part of our SiteOrigin Premium support scope where we have the budget to do so.

I have some small experience. Iam studied IT although I dont have a webdesign as my primary focus.

The widget seems to work fine with some CSS love (grid aligment mainly). I overlooked this widget somehow, that was what I needed. Maybe only a tiny detail is, that it doesnt have a pagination function. I can only set how many posts it displays (maybe there is some feedback and tip for you). But iam not sure if I really need it. Future development of the UX of that web will show if its needed or not for me. Also carousel function to this would be cool – to have original theme looking post thumbnail in a roation.

I will look at child theme function later tho, it seems useful to learn it for a future.

I have to say that you and support is awesome and siteorigin builder is damn great. You really helped alot. If my website ever gets commercial, i will be glad to support a company like yours (and a product like SO builder).

Thank you again and if I will have any other question regarding my project, i will try to ask for sure. Hopefully i will be able to figure out the rest with my experiences and knowledge.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi, thanks for the update.

The Post Loop widget looks for templates using the following patterns:

    *-content.php
    content-*.php
    *-loop.php
    loop-*.php

Your theme most likely has template parts that fit the content pattern. To add pagination you’d need to follow the instructions in my initial reply. Once you’ve located the theme’s blog template you can copy it into a child theme and name it correctly so that it becomes available as a post loop template. It would be a custom development task though.

There is a Post Carousel widget available in the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle.

I’ve created a child theme for you to try, it adds a Blog template for the Post Loop widget.

Here is how to migrate to a child theme Post: Migrating Parent to Child Theme Customizer Settings. We, unfortunately, can’t assist further with the child theme within our free support scope. Hopefully, the above helps :)

    Thank you very much again!
