Theme integration question

By wjk3, 9 years ago. Last reply by Andrew Misplon, 9 years ago.

Regarding “Theme Integration” / “Adding Row Styles”
You say “To specify your own row styles, you need to filter the array passed through siteorigin_panels_row_styles like follows….”
What do you mean by “filter” – are you just saying to add this to the Custom CSS area?
Also, I want to be clear on what I am trying to do – I want to create a row type that is truly “Full Width” , has no padding / margins above or below, so that it “touches” each side of the screen and there is no white space between the widget in the row and the menu.
This is to add a slider to my homepage. With the boarders set as they are, the theme still screams “WORDPRESS THEME” – I want try full page, so it looks like bootstrap.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi wjk3

This is unfortunately not possible in Vantage. Page Builder operates within a constrained container. The Wide Grey row style is essentially hack, using negative margins to achieve a full width background.

Vantage can insert a Meta Slider above the page content as you see here: http://demo.siteorigin.com/vantage/. You can insert a slider in that same position on any page by using the Meta Slider drop down menu in the right column of any page.

If you want help using another slider like Revolution or LayerSlider just let us know, we can assist in working that into a child theme.

If you’re looking to insert a full width slider in the contents of a page…it’s unfortunately not possible from within Vantage and Page Builder, given the current construction.

I don’t understand – the demo site shows true full width – are you saying the demo site shows something that cannot actually be done?

Below the slider are rows that meet both sides of a desktop screen – are you saying this cannot be done?

If so, what is this demo site of, and why did I buy this theme?

    Hi, I Work Here

The row style seen in the demo, Wide Grey, is available right now in your Vantage install. Click the second button on the right of any Page Builder row, called Visual Style, and select Wide Grey from the Class drop down list. All I’m saying about this row style is that it’s content container is not full width. So yes, the background and border reach full width, but the content, the text or images, within that row, won’t reach either side of the screen. Hope that makes more sense now.

You’re welcome to deploy your own row styles but it does take a bit of coding knowledge. You’ll need a child theme, into that child theme you need to create a functions.php file. All of the PHP mentioned here: https://siteorigin.com/page-builder/theme-integration/ needs to go into your child theme functions.php file, the CSS needs to go into either your child theme’s style.css file or Appearance > Custom CSS. This functionality is targeted at theme developers so I’d recommend rather the Row Visual Style builder, which you can access by clicking the second button on the right of any Page Builder row.
