Text on Hero, not responsive

By Winds22, 6 years ago. Last reply by Winds22, 6 years ago.

Hi SiteOrigin.
I am using the pagebuilder, and am so far very exited about the options I have, and how easy it is to use it.
However I am having trouble with the hero and the mobile version. neither the hero image nor the text on this, is adjusting to the mobile device screen, and looks weird.
I did search for other questions of the same kind, but found the answer was privat or specifik to their site, so i hope its ok to ask again. I wonder if it is a theme problem? -I am using Corp.

All the best.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Winds22,

Preface: This isn’t a theme issue.

Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at your hero widget usage?
Regardless, the hero widget is only as responsive as your settings allow. To allow for your text to be responsive, I would recommend enabling FitText. You can enable this setting by opening the SiteOrigin Hero widget and open the Design and Layout settings group. Tick Use FitText and save.

Hi, and thank you for the reply.
I have enabled FitText but it doesn’t seem to work for me, the text now appears on my mobile devide, but is very tiny and strangely located. In the live editor it looks ok (-ish with room for improvement ;) )

    Hi Wind,

This is happening due to how you’ve structured the hero widget contents. Specifically, you’ve applied 210px of left padding to each of the headers in the hero widget. Typically on mobile devices, you’ll have at most 411px of available width so 210px is more than half the available spacing which is why FitText is struggling to display a readable amount – it’s simply too small of a space for the amount of text you have.

I would recommend removing the padding from the headers directly, and instead applying it via Hero widget settings (Left and Right padding) and using % or vmin rather than px.

    Hi Alex.
Ok! Its my first use of a hero, so I thought i could just cram a lot of words on it ;) I will change the placing of the longer text.

Thank you for the quick reply!
