Text Modifications Will Not Hold

When I build a page using Site Builder and go to either the “Visual” or “Text” modes to try to modify the text attributes (making text bold, or italic, or the like), the changes won’t take effect. As soon as I click “update” the changes are immediately lost. Same is true if I click “Preview Changes.” None of the modifications take effect.

I’m using the Photonic theme, but I can’t see anything in the theme settings that is relevant to this problem.

I tried disabling every plugin other than Site Origins and it didn’t help.

I would appreciate your advice.

Sorry – I think I see what was causing the problem. I was using the “Text” widget rather than the “Visual Editor” widget. When I switched over to the Visual Editor widget the changes are recognized.

    Hi Morris

Super, glad to hear you found the Visual Editor widget, to confirm, you first need to install this plugin: http://wordpress.org/plugins/black-studio-tinymce-widget/ to get access to that widget.

It’s not possible to edit Page Builder content in the Visual or Text tabs. So once you start working in the Page Builder tab on a given page or post you need to stay there. It’s also best to first delete any content in Visual if you’re moving an existing page over to being run by Page Builder.

    All the best.

Thanks for your help, Andrew. Now that I am able to customize text attributes using the Visual Editor widget, can you tell me what I need to do to get Fancybox for WordPress to work? I would like to have borders for my images. According to the Fancybox FAQ (see below), once it is activated (which it is) I shouldn’t need to do anything other than “load a page” with an image and the borders will appear.

Forgive me if this is beyond the scope.

“Fancybox FAQ: How does the plugin exactly work?

“First the plugin checks if your blog is using jQuery, if not it will load it from the WordPress files. Then it will load the FancyBox JavaScript, which is where all the magic happens. After this all the CSS code needed to beautify the plugin is added to the page. Finally, the JavaScript waits for your blog to finish loading and then it looks for all links where FancyBox can be applied, and adds it. And that’s it.”

    Hi Morris

I’d recommend using the Responsive Lightbox plugin: http://www.dfactory.eu/plugins/responsive-lightbox/ or the Carousel module in Jetpack: http://jetpack.me/support/carousel/. Both can do what you’re looking for with minimal hassle.

Thanks. I’ll use one of those.
