Testimonial and accordion widgets not responsive on mobile

Hi,
I’m having issues with the SiteOrigin widgets and I wonder if someone can help me out.

1) I added a testimonial and accordion widget on a site I’m building and neither are working well on a mobile platform even though they show up fine on a desktop. They both just show up in a very weird straight line of vertical text. Is there something wrong with the the SiteOrigin widgets on mobile and how can they be made to be responsive?

2) This is actually the second time I’m building these two widgets. The first time I built them, their content disappeared after I updated the widget bundle, with an error saying the widgets no longer existed, and I had to rebuild them again (only to find out that the new widgets don’t work on mobile). How can I prevent the widgets and widget content from being erased after an update?

Thanks!

    Hi Dol,

    1. That’s odd. Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on?

    2. We’re unsure why this would have happened. This sort of thing only happens when the widgets are internally renamed – this isn’t something we would do intentionally. Hm. To confirm, are the two widgets you’re working on SiteOrigin widgets? I ask as I just checked changes for these widgets and the neither of these widgets have been renamed in a very long time so I’m unsure why happened.

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for your response. I don’t have a public url yet as the website is currently being built. I can send a screen shot of what it looks like on both mobile and desktop if you have an email I can send it to.

And yes, both widgets are made by SiteOrigin. The accordion widget is part of the SiteOrigin widgets bundle and the testimonial widget is a Wpinked widget for SiteOrigin. I tried to test them with a different theme — a wordpress default theme — and they still showed up with the same result on mobile.

    Hi Dol,

Can you please send me a screenshot of what you see on desktop and mobile for the accordion widget? Please note that we’re currently unable to process attachments so you’ll need to upload the images to a third party image hosting site like Imgur or vgy.me.

Unfortunately, WP Inked Widgets aren’t our widgets. They’re being added by a third party plugin called Widgets for SiteOrigin. You’ll need to reach out to them for assistance with their widgets – sorry mate.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Dol,

That looks to be a row/widget padding issue – your Padding is too high for mobile devices, this can be fixed by setting a lower Mobile Padding. Would it be possible for you to send me an export of the pictured page? To do this please open up the pictured page in the editor and click the Layout button in the Page Builder toolbar. Then click import/export and then click download. Please upload the export to a 3rd party file hosting site such as teknik.io.

    Hi Alex,

Yes, the page margin was the issue… I guess I thought my set margins would work fine with the accordion widget since they worked fine with the text widget on mobile. But setting the margin to zero and using only the “padding” and “mobile padding” settings fixed the issue. Thanks for the suggestion!

Any idea why the widget contents disappeared after an update though? I’m wondering if it’s because the initial widget version I used was erased?

    Hi Dol,

Great to hear that helped! :)

Unfortunately, no, we’re not too sure what happened. Here’s what I previously stated:
