Taking my site offline

By Nicky555, 7 years ago. Last reply by Alex S, 7 years ago.

Good day

My vantage theme site is live and I need to take it offline to do a lot of work on it.
I have installed two different plugins:
1. WordPress Site offline/Coming Soon Plugin and
2. WP Maintenance Mode plugin

Both of these plugins do not work. They say that once I have installed the plugin I can enable “offline/maintenance mode” in the plugin settings (go to Settings->Site Offline Mode from your WordPress Dashboard).

But I don’t see any of them under settings.

Could you please help me to take my site offline.

Thank you
Nicky

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Nicky,

I’m unfamiliar with “WordPress Site offline/Coming Soon Plugin”, but I’m familiar with WP Maintenance Mode .

To enable Maintain Mode in the WP Maintenance Mode plugin, firstly, please ensure the plugin is installed and currently active. Then navigate to WP AdminSettingsWP Maintenance Mode and set the Status to Activated. Be sure to adjust the settings and design options.

    Hi Nicky,

So it’s not appearing in the settings menu? Hm, it’s possible a plugin is preventing other plugins from adding settings links. To find out if this is the case you’ll need to run a plugin conflict test.

Can you try disabling all non-WP Maintenance Mode plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.
